I am from a pear garden family, my father, my brother, my wife and my girl all sing our Hebei Zizi. I remember that when I was 8 years old, I acted with my father in "Qin Qiong Selling Horses" in Shan Xiongxin, and later when I was a teenager, I visited the famous Hebei Wuzi actor in my village called Wang Baoyue and told me a few plays. At that time, it was Guan Yu opera, "Flooded Seven Army", "Ancient City Society" and so on. In 1957, I was selected to go to the first class of Hebei Provincial Art School for further study, I was a transfer student, I received formal training in the school, Teacher Li Huchen, Teacher Jia Chongwu, Teacher Jia Guilan, and so on, these teachers, gave us sentence by sentence, taught one by one, so that I learned a lot of things.

Lucky studied under Hou Xirui

After graduation, I went to the Hebei Youth Leap Forward Theater Troupe, working on the shelf and spending my face, when I was only a teenager. Mr. Hou Xirui, the master of Peking Opera, was a native of Hengshui, Hebei Province, and at that time the provincial party committee invited Teacher Hou Xirui to Tianjin and asked him to bring students. Mr. Hou gave us a lecture that year, and on the second floor of the south side of the Hebei Hotel, there were about sixteen or seventeen people who learned this flower face from him. Teacher Hou was not satisfied with their imitation movements, at this time it was already 11 o'clock, a director of the Provincial Bureau of Culture came to invite Teacher Hou to dinner, saying that he would not teach today, and the provincial party committee leader invited Teacher Hou to dinner. At this time, Teacher Hou stood up and turned back, saw me, and said, "Tell this young man to walk again." "I was very nervous at that time, so I left, according to Teacher Hou's teaching, when he taught, I looked at it with deep concentration, and I also walked "ambushed in the mouth of the reed flower", a lying fish. Well, Teacher Hou said, "Okay. "Just go. When I returned to the house to eat, I slept on my stomach and slept until more than two o'clock when I listened to the shouts in the corridor: "Where does Zhang Zhiyuan live, where does Zhang Zhiyuan live?" These 5 plays, learning very solidly, Mr. Hou is so old, more than 70 years old, teaching me a lot of things, it can be said that paved the way for me to art. At that time, I didn't know how good this thing was, and after 20 years, I thought about Mr. Hou's things again. Of the plays that Mr. Hou learned, "The Thief of the Imperial Horse" wears an arrow suit, "The Book of Niugao" wears official clothes, "Lu Hua Dang" wears a collapsed dress, "Go to Luoyang" wears a lean, and "Ma Ta Qingmiao" wears a python. These 5 kinds of body shapes and 5 kinds of clothing have been learned, so I have improved, and I am very grateful to teacher Hou Xirui. Later, in the provincial drama school, we were trained by teachers such as Li Huchen, Jia Chongwu, Jia Guilan and many other teachers.

After returning from Teacher Hou, I lined up "Baolian Lantern", and I played the erlang god. From then on, these two lang gods were performed until 2005, the 56th anniversary of the National Day of the People's Republic of China, and I also performed once, and the Hebei Wuzi Theater in Hebei Province organized 4 generations of old, middle-aged, young and young people to celebrate the National Day and perform in the Auditorium of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference in Beijing. I also acted in several other scenes, and you are like Bao Zheng of Jiaozan and Qin Xianglian in "Playing Jiaozan". When Zhang Shumin was studying drama, I played Lao Bao, and she played Qin Xianglian. Later, I co-starred with Zhang Shumin in "Ode to the Dragon River", his Jiang Shuiying, my Li Zhitian. This "Ode to the Longjiang River" was recorded again, and when the province sang "For reclamation", I knew that it was Li Zhitian, who sang it. This "Baolian Lantern", the Three Virgins of Qi Huatan, Pei Yanling's Agarwood, Liu Yanchang of Tian Chunbird, Liu Yanchang of the rear of Zhou Chunshan, my Erlang God. I can't remember how many scenes this play has been performed until now.

At that time, the Yuejin Theater Troupe of Hebei Province Served in beidaihe summer every year. At that time, Kim Il-sung of north Korea and Choi Yong-jin came to Tianjin to watch "Baolian Lantern", and Chairman Zhu De, Vice Chairman Dong Biwu, Marshal He Long, accompanied by many people, were in the auditorium of the Tianjin Cadres Club. Puyi, the last young emperor of the Qing Dynasty, was pardoned in 1963, and Premier Zhou asked us to perform "Baolian Lantern" at the Beijing CPPCC Auditorium for those who were released. Premier Zhou, Puyi, and Zhang Xueliang's younger brother, we ate at a table, the premier talked and laughed, and we took apples for the actors backstage. Later, I acted in a lot of plays, such as "Lu Wenlong" with Pei Yanling, and also cooperated with "North and South", she Yang Balang, my Yelü, Zhang Huiyun's Princess Bilian, Li Zhiping, my wife She Taijun. Up to now, all the troupes have performed this play. Later, he cooperated with Pei Yanling in a play called "Nezha Noisy Sea", his Nezha, my old Dragon King. Later, I followed a teacher Wang Chunsheng to learn drama, taught me a lot of plays, there is a Ouyang Fang of "Lower Hedong", this play is a white-faced hat play, back to back. Another is "Fengmingguan", the white horse old Zhao Yun made a big knife, Zhao Yun made a gun all his life, it is this drama that makes a big knife, killing Han Dewu's father and son 5 in a row, this is called "Fengmingguan". I want to teach this play to my children in the future, or else the play will be lost. Later, I also cooperated with several famous artists in Hebei Province, and cooperated with Comrade Zhang Huiyun on "Honghu Red Guards", my Liu Chuang. With Li Shuhui's eldest sister, we Hebei Zizi was a leading good actor in the 1950s. The two of us acted in the revolutionary modern play "Cuckoo Mountain", she played Mother Du, and I played Lei Gang. In the future, it will be Li Yongqi of "Wise Tiger Mountain". In 1959, my wife Li Zhiping and I arranged a play based on singing, "Bao Gong Compensation". It seems that in September 1979, after the two of us performed "Bao Gong Compensation", we performed it to the central leaders in Beidaihe. From this scene on, I quit smoking! Because there is a sentence at the end of the play: "Thank you sister-in-law..." I can't sing, there is phlegm coming out, I can't spit it out, I can't swallow it, I almost choked it. On September 3, 1979, I bought a few boxes of good cigarettes for everyone to share, and it has been more than 30 years since then, and I have not smoked a mouthful. For the sake of this art, I can't smoke a cigarette until now.

Enter the drama and play the characters

Mr. Hou Xirui once told me that usually, I am me; playing a play, not me; on stage, who I am. Usually I Zhang Zhiyuan is Zhang Zhiyuan, to the backstage a play, you don't have selfish distractions, you have to see who you play, I play Zhang Fei today, you have to be Zhang Fei well, play Guan Yu is Guan Yu, I will slowly realize These words of Hou Lao, my own improvement is very big. Later, in the 1990s, I taught drama school again, and I added two more sentences to Mr. Hou's words. Mr. Hou said that usually I am me, the play is not me, who am I on the stage. I added two more sentences, "Whoever plays me is me, and whoever I play is whoever I play." To have a person with a thousand faces, not a thousand faces, you have to play which character is which character, which character to play to experience which character, so this is the charm in art. My personal experience is that in art, the same is the horse trip, the horse, "Stealing the Royal Horse", after Dou Erdun stole the horse, he rode this horse, and "Horse Walking Qingmiao" Cao Cao rode a horse, so the horse follows people; this "Horse Stepping Qingmiao" is not OK, Cao Cao is a civilian official, this horse, people follow the horse, so it is different in performance. That Dou Erdun was very proud, and he told the horse how to come and how it went, it all went with people; this "Horse Stepping On Qingmiao", which ran immediately, this Cao Cao could not hold back, so this is the horse stepping on Qingmiao. There is a play here, that is, understanding this character. There are a lot of plays in the Zizi Theater, why do you look good, all the actors, all the trades are studying this play in this way, we will act well, this is called fine products. "Baolian Lantern" is a fine product, "Nezha Noisy Sea" is a fine product, and "Blocking Du Chen" ("Blocking Horse", "Du Shiniang", "Chen Sanliang") is a fine product. Fine products should pay attention to details. "Baolian Lantern" movie on the Erlang God, his sword spike turned out to be red or yellow, the big performance artist Li Jinquan sang Lao Dan's advice, this sword spike with dark green, that one hit out is really good, really tall. In 1994, when I was working at the Peking Opera House, I took my children for a few months and taught them a few plays, and later, after I retired, I went to Shanghai. In 2012, Comrade Peng Huiyu asked me to come back to the provincial art school to substitute for four or five years, to teach this art to the next generation, to teach it to the children, and to pass on this art. I am willing to teach my children what I have learned, what I have created, what I have experienced, and what I feel.
