On October 10, the second page of the Economic Daily published "There is more joy in the folk garden".
In the golden autumn season, the Chinese Korean Folk Garden in Yanji City, Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture, Jilin Province, is even more lively.
"I came from Beijing, and I have seen the Internet celebrity barrage walls of Changbai Mountain, Tumen River, and Yanji, and today I came to the Folk Garden to experience the Korean costume travel photography." Jia Zihan, a tourist, told reporters that there are many traditional Korean buildings in the Folk Park, which are suitable for travel photography.
Completed in September 2012, the China Korean Folk Garden covers an area of 9.4 hectares. Zhu Baokun, director of operations of the park, said that there are 40 traditional Korean style buildings, nine of which were rebuilt from Korean villages in Yanbian Prefecture, and have a history of more than 130 years. In addition to the architecture, there are many folk elements such as Korean sauce jars and lanterns in the Folk Park, as well as a number of intangible cultural heritage items such as Korean costumes, rice cakes, rice wine, and spicy cabbage, which are displayed or experienced here, attracting a large number of tourists. In the first eight months of this year, the park received a total of 2.92 million visitors, a year-on-year increase of 47%.
In 2019, Li Hua, the person in charge of the Embroidered Beauty Clothing Experience Hall in the Folk Park, told reporters that his store is more than 400 square meters, with more than 1,000 sets of clothing, and the store employs 10 photographers, 10 makeup artists, and more than 10 costume managers, and nearly 140 tourists who experience travel photography every day in the peak season. "Through dressing and shooting, many young people feel the Korean people's attention to beauty and etiquette, and then they like related folk customs."
"Come and try our home-brewed rice wine." At the Ailing Milu Rice Wine House in the Rice Wine Workshop of the Folk Garden, An Jungjin, the person in charge, warmly greets tourists. On the counter, various items such as mulberry rice wine and wild blueberry rice wine are neatly arranged, and the salesperson is taking the chilled rice wine from the refrigerator and pouring it into small cups for visitors to taste.
In 2015, An Zhenjin, who has a certain reputation for making Korean rice wine in the local area, was invited to operate in the Folk Garden, and the water, electricity and houses were provided free of charge by the park, and the two sides shared according to the sales. "After entering the park, sales have increased significantly, and more than 6,000 bottles of rice wine can be sold a day in the peak season." Ahn Jung-jin said that she learned her craft from her mother, and as her business in the folk garden got better and better, her daughter and son-in-law also devoted themselves to this intangible cultural heritage project.
With the increasing popularity, a cultural and tourism industry ecosystem has been formed around the Folk Park. Zhu Baokun said that there are more than 400 travel photography companies around the Folk Garden, and about 1,000 travel photography companies in the entire urban area of Yanji. At the same time, cafes, bubble tea shops, Yanji barbecue restaurants, and homestays have sprung up in the surrounding area.
