The 57th International Calligraphy Art Exhibition: The Wave Meeting and Award Ceremony were successfully held

Chinese Herald News (Reporter Yang Wenkai) The 57th 2024 International Calligraphy Art Exhibition will be held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum from September 27th to October 5th. This art exhibition is organized by the International Calligraphy Art Association, the International Artists Alliance, the China Academy of Calligraphy, and the Nanjing Liu Hongyou Calligraphy Art Institute, with the support of the Chinese Embassy, the Japan-China Friendship Association, the Japan Calligraphy Culture Association, the Chinese Calligraphy Research Institute of Southeast University, the China Tian Yingzhang Calligraphy Research Institute, the Association for the Promotion of Japanese Chinese Exchange, and the Tokikusai Tokyo Art Research Institute.

On October 5th, this year's art exhibition held a waving party and an award ceremony at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum Auditorium. Representatives of the organizer International Calligraphy Art Alliance, the China Academy of Calligraphy and Chinese and Japanese guests presented the exhibitors with selection certificates, the special selection awards to the exhibitors and authors of the Tian Yingzhang Calligraphy Research Institute of China, and various awards of the art exhibition, including the Ministry of Culture Award of the Chinese Embassy and the highest Chinese Embassy Award.

The 57th International Calligraphy Art Exhibition was held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. More than 500 Chinese and Japanese calligraphy works are spectacular, including works by Chinese and Japanese masters such as Toshiki Umibe, Masahiko Takamura, Tian Yingzhang, Liu Hongyou, Chen Dayu, Shen Peng, Su Shishu, Wei Tianchi, Han Tianheng, Yan Gongda, Zhang Binghuang, Wang Yong, Zhang Bingwen, Endo Ranshu, and Eiri Ohira.

Tian Yingzhang, who unfortunately passed away due to illness in Japan recently, left behind the work "Art Hongde", which is a masterpiece for the master and can be called a summary of his artistic career. The organizers and participants remembered Mr. Tian Yingzhang, the most important participant and supporter of the International Calligraphy Art Exhibition over the years, and will pass on Mr. Tian's artistic spirit of "writing well and being a good person", and practice and promote the cause of Sino-Japanese friendship.

The guests who attended the award ceremony on the same day were: Yanagida Taishan, advisor of the Japan Thai Book Association, Tetsuji Nagata, vice president of the Japan-China Friendship Association of Tokyo, Shigeki Katagi, president of the Gakushuin Elementary Department Sakura Friends Association, Gao Xiaofei, chairman of the Japan Chinese Calligraphers Association, Jin Ou, chairman of the Japan Chinese Humanities Federation, Chen Xiujie, chairman of Chiyoda Education Group, and Eiri Ohira, president of the Japan Calligraphy Culture Association.

Liu Hongyou, representative of the organizer of the art exhibition and president of the International Calligraphy Art Association, said: Today is the award ceremony of the 57th International Calligraphy Art Exhibition, but there is a special person, Mr. Tian Yingzhang. He was my brother and an indispensable presence in the award ceremony for many years, but unfortunately he left us a week ago. This award ceremony was not so much a big congratulation as a feeling of nostalgia.

Liu Hongyou said that this international calligraphy art exhibition, there are about 540 works from China and Japan, especially the works of children from primary and secondary schools, and 163 works are selected from 25,000 works for exhibition, and we will issue them with a selection card. Adult works and art works are selected from Chinese mainland, Taiwan, Korea, and Japan, and include traditions, traditional innovations, and traditions plus one, as well as works of various genres and styles. Thanks to the support of book lovers and colleagues across the country, this international calligraphy art exhibition is constituted. I hope to continue to hold the 58th, 60th, and even 100th sessions.

Before the awards, Chinese and Japanese calligraphers waved on the spot and had a calligraphy exchange.

Chinese and Japanese guests took the stage to present the selection certificates to the primary and secondary school children and their exhibited works.

Special awards were presented to the exhibited works and authors of the Tian Yingzhang Calligraphy Research Institute of China.

At the 57th Art Exhibition, Sakurai Hongshu and Kawaguchi Fan Boat won the Chairman Award of the Association for the Promotion of Japanese Chinese Exchange, Lu Cai won the International Calligraphy Art Award, Saito Manyan and Mochizuki Goren won the International Calligraphy Art Quasi-Award, Matsuoka Rusui won the International Calligraphy Art Award, Toryū Shimu won the President Award of the Chinese Calligraphy Academy, Nishiyama Takeyun and Sato Shinyue won the Ministry of Culture Award of the Chinese Embassy, and Yamamoto Yuelu won the highest Chinese Embassy Award.

Finally, the Chinese calligraphy delegation and all the participants who participated in this art exhibition took a commemorative group photo, leaving a memorable moment.
