Zhai Jun, the special envoy of the Chinese government for the Middle East, visited Iran

On September 23-24, 2024, Zhai Jun, Special Envoy of the Chinese Government for Middle East Affairs, visited Iran upon invitation and met with Al Haji, Adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, and Shushtari, Assistant Minister and Director General for Middle East and North Africa Affairs, to exchange views on China-Iran relations and the situation in the Middle East.

Zhai Jun said that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, China-Iran relations have maintained healthy and stable development. China is ready to work with Iran to continuously deepen the China-Iran comprehensive strategic partnership. At present, the Middle East region is undergoing profound and complex changes, China supports Iran and regional countries in safeguarding sovereignty, security and development interests, and is willing to strengthen communication and coordination with Iran in regional affairs, promote comprehensive, just and lasting solutions to hotspot issues, and achieve regional peace, stability and development.

The Iranian side said that the new Iran government will give priority to the development of the Iran-China comprehensive strategic partnership. Iran appreciates China's efforts to promote intra-Palestinian reconciliation and thanks China for promoting the improvement of relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia. Iran is ready to strengthen coordination and cooperation with China in Middle East affairs and jointly promote regional security and stability.

The two sides also exchanged views on the Gaza conflict and regional issues in Lebanon, Syria, Yemen, Sudan and Libya.
