Zhi Shunyi: My good role model Dong Cunrui

I feel that it is very beneficial to find a practical role model suitable for me to learn from in my life journey as my unswerving goal. A good example in my heart is my old squad leader, Comrade Dong Cunrui.

Back then, in the days when I fought side by side with the old squad leader, my every move made me feel that his belief was so firm, his combat was so brave, and his moral character was so noble...... In a word, there is a spirit of dedication and sacrifice that shines in him. At that time, I silently decided in my heart: In this life, I must learn from the squad leader, and the squad leader is my role model in life.

On May 25, 1948, when the battle of Longhua reached the most critical moment, my old squad leader, Comrade Dong Cunrui, resolutely raised the white smoke explosive bag with his hand and shouted "Comrades, for the sake of New China, rush!" "Honorably gave his young life while blowing up enemy pillboxes.

"We must avenge the old squad leader!" Red-eyed, I picked up the explosives bag and rushed to the wall of Longhua Middle School desperately, blew up the last bunker of the enemy, blew up the wall, and planted the red flag of victory on Longhua Middle School.

Although the old squad leader sacrificed, his glorious image, noble character and his fearless revolutionary heroism will always live in my heart. In all the battles that followed, the earth-shattering call of the old squad leader has always inspired me to charge into battle.

After liberation, there was no war to fight, and a series of new problems followed, such as honor, position, family, children, and so on. For our generation, our own problems are easy to solve, but our children are more difficult.

My two sons have had problems with me: the eldest son lives in a factory in Shenyang after marriage, and his lover is in Jinzhou and wants to solve the problem of separation between the two places; The second son joined the army in his third year and hoped to be promoted. At that time, many people said to me that you are a well-known old hero and a division-level cadre, and with your honor and status, it is not easy to solve this problem!

To tell the truth, there are really some well-meaning comrades who have offered to help in this matter, and as long as I nod my head, there will be no problem in getting it done. But I take into account that if I learn from the old class leader, I must learn from his selfless dedication, and my honor is given by the party and the people, and I must not rely on it to do my children's private affairs. The children also understood me deeply.

After I took a break, I often thought about the question of "if the old squad leader lived to ...... now", so I used my spare energy to do as much as possible to do something beneficial to society. I kept telling about the heroic deeds of the old squad leaders, the stories of battles, and the revolutionary traditions, giving fifty or sixty lectures a year, and answering the questions of the young people with letters. I have also worked as an honorary principal, counselor or pastoral teacher in several schools.

Now, I can comfort the old squad leader: I have learned from you all my life, and my old age is very fulfilling.
