The fragrance of osmanthus is strong in autumn, and the golden autumn season is fruitful. On September 10, in this golden autumn season of harvest, Ludian County held the 2024 Square Dance and Fitness Games for the Elderly to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. A total of 23 sports, literary and artistic teams and more than 600 athletes gathered in the Ludian County Gymnasium to participate in the event.
The Games was jointly sponsored by the United Front Work Department of the Ludian County Party Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Ludian County Education and Sports Bureau, the Ludian County Ethnic Affairs and Religious Affairs Bureau, and the Lu County Sports Association for the Elderly, and co-organized by the County Culture and Tourism Bureau, the County Health Bureau, the County Financial Media Center and other relevant functional departments. Leaders of Zhaotong Sports Association for the Elderly attended the opening ceremony.
Ludian County Square Dance and Fitness Games for the Elderly is a new comprehensive sports event for the elderly with high specifications, large scale and far-reaching significance, which actively conveys the care of the Party Central Committee, the State Council, the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee, the Provincial Government, the Zhaotong Municipal Party Committee, the Municipal Government, the County Party Committee and the County Government for the elderly in the county.
Ludian County gives full play to the positive role of sports for the elderly and literature and art for the elderly in coping with the aging of the population, and takes the opportunity of holding this square dance and fitness games for the elderly to drive more elderly people to participate in the national fitness movement, enhance the physical and mental health of the elderly, and promote family happiness and social harmony. After the opening ceremony, more than 1,000 leaders, guests and audiences watched a number of wonderful cultural performances such as martial arts, tai chi, soft ball, and Chinese cheongsam catwalk.
