Between the AFC and the national or regional associations, there are also regional football organizations, namely: West Asian Football Confederation, East Asian Football Confederation, Southeast Asian Football Confederation, South Asian Football Confederation, Central Asian Football Confederation.

The West Asian Football Federation, founded in 2001, currently has 12 national football association members, and the main event is the West Asian Football Championship. The West Asian Football Confederation currently has 12 member associations: Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, U.A.E. and Yemen. The Iran Football Association is a founding member and withdrew in 2014 to participate in the creation of the Central Asian Football Confederation.

The Southeast Asian Football Federation (AFF) is a football organization formed by Southeast Asian countries and affiliated to the AFC. The organization was founded in 1984 by Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Viet Nam joined in 1996. In 1996, the Association held the first Tiger Cup, and since then its role has been further expanded. Timor-Leste acceded in 2004. Australia joined the AFC on 1 January 2006 and sent youth teams to the South East Asia Youth Championships.

The Central Asian Football Association (CAFA)[1] is a football organization composed of member associations of Central Asian football and a branch of the AFC. In July 2014, the Central Asian Football Confederation (CAF) approved the establishment of the Asian Football Confederation and held a special meeting during the Asian Cup in January 2015. Eventually, the Central Asian Football Confederation will be accepted as part of the AFC Executive Committee. Due to various disputes with other members of the West Asian Football Federation, the Iran Football Association decided to take the lead in establishing the Central Asian Football Federation.

The East Asian Football Federation (EAFF) was established by eight East Asian football organizations from China, Guam, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Macau, Mongolia and Chinese Taipei, with the aim of enhancing the competitiveness of football in the Asian region and enhancing its influence within the AFC. Eight East Asian football organizations met in Tokyo, Japan on March 2, 2002 to discuss and decide to establish a regional East Asian Football Confederation in May 2002, headquartered in Bunkyo-ku, Tokyo, Japan. The association was established as planned before the start of the World Cup (28 May 2002). Although the DPRK did not send representatives to the meeting, they joined as one of the founders of the association shortly after its founding. The Northern Mariana Islands joined the East Asian Football Federation (EAF) as a provisional member in December 2006 and was confirmed as a full member in September 2008.

Founded in 1997, the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) is a football organization formed by the association of member football associations in South Asia and a regional branch of the Asian Football Federation. Founding members include Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Bhutan joined the Federation in 2000 and Afghanistan in 2005. In February 2015, Haroon Amiri, leader of the Afghanistan Football Association, announced that Afghanistan would withdraw from the South Asian Football Confederation in favor of the newly formed Central Asian Football Confederation.
