Game equipment trading fraud
Let's see how it goes
Xiao Nian is a loyal online game enthusiast, he likes to play games on weekdays, and he also likes to buy various game equipment to enhance the skills of the game characters, but this incident has allowed the scammers to take advantage of the loophole.
In early May, Xiao Nian, who was playing a game at home, suddenly received a strange message in the game APP, and the other party asked Xiao Nian if he needed game equipment. Xiao Nian wanted to know more, so he added the other party's WeChat. Soon, the other party sent Xiao Nian pictures of the game equipment, Xiao Nian was very interested in one of the equipment, and had a detailed and harmonious discussion with the other party, and finally the other party quoted 5000 yuan. The price offered by the other party, Xiao Nian was very moved, so he happily decided to make a deal. Xiao Nian transferred money to the other party in three times from WeChat, respectively 2,500 yuan, 300 yuan, and 2,200 yuan, for a total of 5,000 yuan to buy game equipment. But until the end of May, the other party didn't send the game equipment to Xiao Nian, and he didn't reply to the other party on WeChat, and finally disappeared after playing. At this time, Xiao Nian realized that he had been deceived and called the police.
After receiving the police, the Criminal Investigation Brigade immediately launched the investigation and handling of the case. After analysis and judgment, it was found that the suspect was Hou XX in Shanxi Province. On July 29, the Criminal Investigation Brigade, with the cooperation of the local police station, arrested the suspect Hou Moumou.
After interrogation, Hou Moumou confessed to his illegal acts. At present, Hou Moumou has been criminally detained in accordance with the law, and the case is being further tried.
Anti-fraud for all
Online game scam routines
1. Booster upgrade scam
Fraudsters use various platforms to publish a large number of false advertisements, claiming that they can level up game characters at a low price, and scammers take advantage of the child's desire to quickly score points in the game, obtain the child's game password and ask him to pay part of the fee in advance, and then loot the equipment and game currency immediately after getting the remittance, and disappear immediately.
2. Low-cost equipment scams
In online games, you can often see some information such as "selling equipment at a low price" and recharging "diamonds" and "ingots" at a low price. Fraudsters widely publish such messages in the game, falsely claiming that they can recharge at a lower price than the official price, buy virtual items such as game diamonds and ingots, and trick children into transferring money.
3. Buying, selling, and borrowing account fraud
Scammers obtain children's bank card information, or steal numbers, and make children pay related fees for various reasons to defraud, or even directly transfer money from bank cards.
4. Impersonating game customer service scams
After the child purchases the virtual item, "Phishing" QQ will ask the child to contact the "customer service" on the fake transaction website on the grounds of contacting customer service for delivery or refund. At this time, the "customer service" will do everything in its power to make the child in the middle of the set pay (recharge) more money for various reasons to achieve a second fraud.
5. Eliminate anti-addiction fraud
Fraudsters often trick victims into adding game friends, induce victims to download screen sharing software or video calls, and intimidate minors or induce minors to open payment links and remotely control victims' mobile phones to commit fraud on the grounds that "if you don't untie it in time, your parents will go to jail and be fined".
Anti-fraud class
What should parents do to protect their children from illegal activities on the Internet?
1. Protect privacy. Some children have recorded their basic information in detail on social platforms, and parents should check it as soon as possible and urge their children to revise it.
2. Stay on top of the situation. Find out how much time your child spends online, what content they browse, what apps they use, and how they make friends.
3. Keep your money bag in check. Parents should promptly inquire about their online consumption records, pay bills, etc., verify whether there is recharge or transfer, and if they find that they encounter fraud, they should keep relevant records in time and report to the police.
4. Correct guidance. Parents should guide young people to use the Internet correctly and rationally, and popularize anti-fraud knowledge. At the same time, give the child more company, establish a good intimate relationship with the child, pay attention to the child's emotions, and detect abnormalities in time.
