Recently, the 35 acres of lotus root of Peng Gang's family, a farmer in Daoyuan Village, ushered in a bumper harvest. I saw Peng Gang digging lotus roots with a water gun in the field, and the white lotus roots weighing about 3 kilograms were dug out, and about 500 kilograms were harvested in a short time.

Peng Gang has been engaged in lotus root cultivation for five years. Five years ago, he was optimistic about Wensu County's unique water, soil, light and heat resources, and introduced 36 different varieties of lotus roots from the mainland for trial planting in rice fields. After careful cultivation and selection, it was finally determined that the new No. 35 lotus root is the most suitable for local cultivation.
Peng Gang excitedly introduced: "The new No. 35 lotus root was introduced from Yunnan. I also put a lot of effort into developing this variety, and after 5 years of unremitting efforts, I finally succeeded. ”
This year's new No. 35 lotus root not only grows well, but also has an amazing yield, with a yield of more than 2 tons per mu. "This variety is very popular with customers in the market. After washing, the lotus root becomes very white. Whether it's fried or stewed, it's delicious and caters to all ages. In the Wensu and Aksu markets, our lotus root occupies a large part of the market share. Peng Gang said.

The good quality of lotus root has been favored by the market, the wholesale price per kilogram has reached more than 10 yuan, the economic benefit per mu can reach more than 20,000 yuan, and the net profit per mu is about 16,000 yuan.
The abundant harvest of lotus root provides a new direction for the adjustment of the local agricultural structure in Wensu. In the future, Peng Gang plans to further expand the planting area and explore the possibility of deep processing of lotus root, so as to increase the added value of products and drive the surrounding farmers to get rich together.
