"Nameless Jude" is the masterpiece of the famous British writer Hardy at the end of the 19th century. The novel mainly describes the orphaned young male Jude, although he has been in an unfortunate life for a long time, but has a big dream and pursuit, he wants to become a doctor of theology by studying hard. After a period of arduous self-study, he encountered another failed marriage and came to the capital of the university to realize his dream of studying. While making a living through his craft, he writes a letter of recommendation to the college and seeks opportunities for further study at the university. After finally studying hopelessly, he did not give up self-study.
Jude taught himself
When he learned that his beloved cousin was married to the elementary school teacher who led his dreams, he was both heartbroken and helpless. Eventually due to their cousin's unhappy marriage, they chose to live together. Subsistence and worldly vision forced them to travel to several places with a few children and barely make ends meet.
The successive deaths of the children caused the cousin's mental breakdown, and she thought that she had suffered the punishment of God and returned to the teacher's side. After suffering in his body and mind, Jude desperately poured wine all day long, and finally fell ill and died at the age of 30.
In the original preface, the author writes that reading is only written for thousands of adult men and women, mainly to interpret the tragic life of a heroic and unpaid person.
And this warning record reveals the author's mental journey. Hardy and Jude had the same life experience and were familiar with the life of a stonemason. Therefore, Hardy's description of Jude's stonemason career is entirely a recollection of the difficult life of his youth. The stonemason holds a hammer to chisel the stone, spends a long time in the knock, and life is very difficult. So Hardy sought to portray Jude as a diligent reader, eager to receive more education, and perhaps a respected Doctor of Theology. However, Hardy's heart is always full of contradictions, and he knows the difficulty of success. At that time, it was rare for masons to become decent readers, let alone doctors and priests of theology.

If Jude is a mediocre man with no ambitions, or is different and ambitious, then his lack of success in his career may only be sad for a while and not sad for a lifetime. On the contrary, Jude was a diligent reader and knowledgeable, and the academy had many students, even less than one-tenth of him. Once, he recited the entire scripture in the hall, and his words were shocked. It is absurd that a young man like Jude cannot go to college for further study. Jude exhausted all his efforts in desperation and passed away.
When he returned to Christminster, his mind was focused on the anniversary celebration, and he did not expect it to be the real beginning of the tragedy. The thunder during the waiting period, the heavy rain, and the delay in the celebration are annoying.
His former co-worker said:
"The last time you flew away, it didn't seem to be flying, right?"
Jude agrees.
"Except for a few more mouths." Another co-worker added.
"You don't have that kind of life, do you?" The co-worker said, "Your skills are not big enough to make you do what you want, right?"
In the face of the ridicule of his co-workers, Jude, after an inner struggle, made his inner thoughts public. He said:
"It's a difficult question to answer, I've tried to find out, and there are millions of young people weighing it up in this period. I tried one of the methods and failed. But my failure without admitting it proves my point of view wrong, or my success proves it right. If I had ended up becoming a superior person, people would have said, "Look how wise that young man is, developing according to his innate personality." But if my ending wasn't better than it was, people would say, "That guy is whimsical, go his own way, and see how stupid he is." “
"I failed, but it wasn't because I wasn't determined, it was because I was living too poorly. Things that usually take two or three generations to achieve, I try to accomplish in one generation. Moreover, my impulses, my feelings and desires are too strong, and it is bound to hinder a person who does not have superior conditions. Whoever wants to get a really good chance, or a big man, his blood must be as cold as a fish, and his heart is as greedy as a pig.
