Every summer, going out is no longer the only choice for college students and prospective college students, many of them choose to find a summer job, experience the workplace in advance and "refuel" their pocket money. However, unlike the joke of "post-00s rectifying the workplace" on the Internet, these summer workers not only have to face the fierce job market, but also have many "traps" to avoid lightning.
Status quo:
Summer part-time jobs are not all "cool dramas"
There are many cool text plots about summer vacation jobs on the Internet, such as "When your friend works for summer vacation", "My girlfriend works for summer vacation, and the beneficiary is me", "College students become folk 315" and so on, leaving a "cool" impression in the hearts of young people. However, reality is often different from imagination. After communicating with several college students who work on summer vacations, a reporter from Beijing Youth Daily found that they are generally facing the dilemma of difficulty in finding a job and staying in their jobs.
It took Xiao Zhang, a college student, half a month to find a job as a clinic promoter during the summer vacation. "I started looking for summer jobs just after the holidays, but because the college entrance examination candidates have an early holiday, many popular positions have been filled." In Xiao Zhang's view, bubble tea shops, express delivery stations or post stations and instant delivery are all good summer job options, the first two have air conditioners and the labor intensity is not large, and the latter one earns more and has a lot of flexibility in working hours.
There was no first choice, so Xiao Zhang had to look for a job randomly, and he ran to ask either the employees who had been recruited, or they were unwilling to train summer workers, and only recruited skilled people. In the end, she only contacted 5 job opportunities, interviewed for 2 positions, and after spending half a month, Xiao Zhang finally found a job distributing flyers and promoting business in the clinic. And the hourly wage of this job is only 10 yuan.
Junjun decided to leave after working in a restaurant for a week. In the summer after the college entrance examination, she joined the ranks of part-time workers, hoping to earn some pocket money and get a new mobile phone for herself. However, the reality is very skinny. With the vacation of college students, the competition in the summer job market has become more and more fierce, and lowering wages has become a "sharp weapon" for some businesses to face summer jobs. Some businesses are only willing to pay 800 yuan/month to hire her. In the end, Junjun found a job with a monthly salary of 1,500 yuan as a chores in a restaurant.
But in the end, it was not the low income that prompted Junjun to resign, but the labor intensity far beyond her imagination. Every day's work makes Junjun feel "like a war", especially during the rush hour, serving food, washing dishes, and cleaning up the store...... As a customer, watching the waiter do these jobs is easy like going shopping, and when you are in it, you just hate how you can do a bunch of work at the same time without three heads and six arms or doppelgangers. In just a few days, blood blisters developed on her heels. "For me, I was so tired that sometimes I even had to work until the early hours of the morning, but I insisted on it for a long time, and I had hired a dishwasher in the store before, and I had not been here after only one day."
"I've changed jobs 4 times." Li Yushuang, a prospective college student, told a reporter from Beiqing Daily that the summer vacation had just passed for more than a month. She said that some of these jobs were not persevered by herself, and some were "fired". "The first job in a bubble tea shop that I was more impressed with was fired by the manager because I made a mistake in making a takeout order. The rest of the reasons are that the lights were not turned off when leaving, and the hygiene was not good. In that bubble tea shop, Li Yushuang worked 10 hours a day, only 60 yuan/day salary, and didn't care about food.
According to the "Summer Work Status Survey 2024" released by some organizations, as many as 73% of the respondents have worked short-term during the summer vacation. The age group of people participating in summer work is mainly concentrated in the age group of 16-23 years old, and a large proportion of college students and secondary school graduates are in school. According to the survey, 63% of the respondents expect a salary package of "100-150 yuan/day", "more than 180 yuan/day" is considered ideal, and "less than 100 yuan/day" salary is only accepted by 4%. In addition, nearly half of the respondents believe that "working too long hours", while 23% and 18% of respondents report "poor working conditions" and "unpaid wages", respectively.
Survey:
Summer workers are prone to "three traps"
In fact, as a young person who has just stepped into the society, summer workers face not only difficulties such as low salary and difficulty in retaining their jobs, but also some job traps, and even "fraud" in the name of work. A reporter from Beiqing Daily also summarized the "three major traps" that summer workers are prone to.
Salary trap: unequal pay for equal work and unpaid wages
Li Yan found a summer job doing activities on weekends this summer. His job was to put on a puppet costume to attract the attention of the passing crowd. They are a team of five, with two summer workers and two brand-owned employees. The three of them took turns wearing puppet costumes, and those who didn't wear them went to help the two regular employees organize activities and distribute gifts. "I have 200 yuan a day, three days a week, and 2,400 yuan a month. I think it's okay, but there is a little friend who won't come the next week. Li Yan said that he later learned that the little friend who didn't come only earned 120 yuan a day. The employees of the brand can not only earn their own wages, but also do activities on weekends, and the company also gives each person a subsidy of 150 yuan a day.
Junjun told a reporter from Beiqing Daily that when she was looking for a job, a fruit shop immediately reduced her promised salary by one-third after learning that she was a summer worker.
worked in the barbecue restaurant for three days, but Li Yushuang didn't get the daily salary. The reason given by the store manager was that he was not paid during the probationary period. In addition, when she was working for a summer job, she also encountered a situation where the store stipulated that the first month's salary of new employees should be paid one month later, which caused her salary to be delayed for no reason.
These situations are not unique, on social platforms, many netizens complained about revealing a variety of salary problems in the summer job market. A netizen said: "The store manager said that half of the day's salary would be deducted for leaving early. Another netizen also mentioned: "I didn't work for two months, and the hourly salary I said was cut by the boss by 2 yuan." What's more, some netizens reflected: "After working for 15 days, the boss did not pay me a salary, and deleted my WeChat." ”
Fee trap: You have to pay a fee for entry, and the intermediary fee is inflated
When using recruitment software to find a job, Zhang found that many job postings did not match the actual situation. Some of them clearly say that they are recruiting librarians, ticket inspectors, etc., but when they get to the interview place, it becomes that this company can introduce part-time jobs for activities, but the food expenses during the event must be borne by themselves, and job seekers need to pay the food expenses first, and then sign an agreement to introduce part-time jobs. There are also companies that offer a "high salary" of more than 300 yuan per day, and say that the competition for the position is fierce, but let her pay a deposit, training fee and physical examination fee first to occupy this position.
Ms. Li's son was in a similar situation. Ms. Li found a daily job for her son on a recruitment platform, distributing 3D glasses in the cinema with a promised daily salary of 260 yuan. But after the interview was successful, the other party asked him to pay 450 yuan for clothing and meals, and signed a cooperation agreement. In the end, Ms. Li, who paid the money, found that the so-called part-time job did not exist, and the other party's purpose was only to defraud the clothing and meal expenses.
On July 22, there were also media reports that "hundreds of college students were deceived in Xi'an looking for summer jobs, and Shaanxi Xingqi Yuanfan Human Resources Co., Ltd. received medical examination fees and insurance premiums and had no news".
In addition, some illegal employment agencies impersonate or forge relevant qualifications, and charge high intermediary fees from job seekers on the grounds that they have connections that can be "referred", and after collecting the fees, introduce low-paying part-time jobs that are available anywhere to job seekers.
Scam trap: Become a victim or accomplice
Previously, some media reported that Ms. Wang from Huzhou had found a part-time job as a "typist" on the Internet, and those who contacted her said that she could earn money by typing at home. Initially, Ms. Wang was sent a link asking her to download a software called OAOffice Project Statistical Registry. Ms. Wang registered a total of 29 items in the app that day.
When the wages were settled, the other party did not fulfill the promise of 4 yuan that was originally negotiated, and Ms. Wang only received 14.5 yuan. In this regard, the other party explained that the company pays wages according to the level of employees, and Ms. Wang is currently at a low level, and she can only earn 0.5 yuan by registering a one, and if she wants to improve her level as soon as possible, she needs to do the task of recharge and rebate. Ms. Wang recharged 51 yuan under the inducement of the other party, received a rebate of 68 yuan, and then recharged another 103 yuan, but the rebate failed. The other party said that he had to charge another 1,500 yuan to get a rebate. Just when Ms. Wang hesitated, she received a dissuasive call from the police, which did not cause greater damage.
In addition, criminals often use web pages, forums, social software and other channels to widely publish summer part-time job swiping advertisements, and induce students to increase the principal through small rebates. Fraudsters also publish fake part-time advertisements on the grounds of recruiting video platform "likers", attract students to take the bait, pay small commissions to deceive trust, and then falsely claim that they want to get more money-making tasks and need to recharge the amount to become members, etc., to induce the victim students to advance funds to recharge.
According to the Yongzhou Police Official Account, in August last year, college student Xiao Wang saw an advertisement for summer workers on a recruitment APP, and with the mentality of making some money as a summer worker, he came to the other party's "studio". "Boss" Zhou told Xiao Wang that the job content is to call people according to the set words, and then pull people into the designated WeChat group. In the face of such a part-time job in the summer with less work and more gains, Xiao Wang felt very simple and relaxed, until he was found by the police of the Wutong Police Station of the Lengshuitan Public Security Bureau, and this group of "hard-working" summer workers found that the part-time job was helping fraud criminals "drain".
In addition, there are also potential crises in "summer vacations" such as local push drainage, borrowing bank cards to help others get a large amount of cash to get paid, and building GOIP equipment, such as local push and drainage, which may be a preliminary preparation for fraud, lending bank cards to others may be suspected of money laundering for telecom fraud, and participating in the construction of GOIP equipment may facilitate telecom fraud.
Remind:
How to avoid "getting hit" Do your homework well in advance
In response to the above-mentioned traps, the People's Court of Laishan District, Yantai City, Shandong Province, has stated in the popularization of the law on part-time summer jobs that summer part-time jobs are short-term employment and there is no such thing as a "probationary period", and the employer must settle wages according to the actual number of hours of employment, and the hourly remuneration standard shall not be lower than the minimum hourly wage standard stipulated by the people's government where the employer is located, and the labor remuneration settlement and payment cycle shall not exceed 15 days at the longest. Summer part-time jobs have a certain degree of flexibility, and employers are not entitled to claim liquidated damages when summer part-time employees leave their jobs.
The Labor Contract Law also clearly stipulates that when an employer recruits an employee, it shall not seize the employee's resident identity card and other documents, and shall not require the employee to provide a guarantee or collect property from the employee in any other name.
Job seekers should enhance their awareness and ability to prevent false recruitment or fraudulent employment information, bravely say "no" to criminals' behavior of collecting property and seizing documents under false pretenses, and report to the labor inspection department once discovered.
Job seekers should apply for jobs through regular recruitment websites, reasonably position their expected salary according to their own skills, and do not believe in false recruitment tactics such as "click cashback", "part-time swiping", "staying at home" and "high salary daily settlement".
When applying for a job, you can carefully screen whether the relevant information of the recruiting enterprise is true by inquiring into the national enterprise credit information publicity system and checking the employer's business license on the spot, pay attention to the protection of personal information, do not easily disclose information such as bank cards and online banking, do not open links to unfamiliar websites at will, and beware of illegal organizations such as "pyramid schemes" and "telecommunications fraud".
After joining the job, if a job seeker finds that the position he or she is applying for may involve illegal and criminal acts such as network telecommunications fraud, he or she should call the reporting number in time to avoid becoming an "accomplice" of criminals.
Reporter's Notes:
Adjusting your mindset is a compulsory course for summer part-time jobs
In the summer job market, it is not easy for young people who are just starting out to find a suitable job. Although summer work is not all smooth sailing, earning an income through one's own labor has a special meaning and sense of fulfillment for many young people. Adjusting their mindset and attitude towards work is a lesson they must learn in this process.
Junjun later found a job in a hot pot restaurant, with a salary that was twice as high as before, and the work intensity was not so great. "I get a lot of accomplishment in my work and feel like I'm doing a good job," she says. ”
Xiao Zhang found that the actual work was very different from what she had originally imagined. Her task is to stand outside to distribute flyers in the heat of the summer, which is not an easy job, but Xiao Zhang said: "I have experienced the hardships of life and earned income through my own efforts, which is still very fulfilling." "Even though her first job didn't pay well, it was this job that made her feel like she was transitioning from a child to an adult.
After going around and around, Li Yushuang finally found the job she wanted, working as a front desk job in a rice noodle shop. "It's a humble job, but it means a lot to me." Li Yushuang said frankly. The colleagues she works with are "very nice", which makes her feel warm and supportive from the team. Although it was not all smooth sailing, she felt her growth during such a summer vacation.
