Microsoft announced last year that it would close the Xbox 360's digital store in July 2024, and now it's not days away from a complete shutdown.
In addition to the Xbox 360's digital store, the Microsoft Movies & TV app on its systems will also be shut down on July 29, but players will still be able to play Xbox 360 games on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S consoles with backward compatibility.
In response to the shutdown, developer Double Fine (which develops games like Brain Navigator and Legend of the Beast) reminded players to make sure all games are downloaded by July 29.
Among the games developed by Double Fine, there is a motion game called "Kinect Party" that is more special, because the Xbox 360's Kinect is not supported by later Xbox hardware, which is why Double Fine lamented that "the advocates of digital preservation have once again been proven right". However, Double Fine has decided to offer a limited number of codes to players who are interested in the game, and players can simply send an email to the [email protected] to get the Kinect Party game code.
