"Taking Asian elephants, red-billed gulls and the unique animal and plant resources of Yunnan as inspiration, combined with the designer's imaginative creative concept, and integrating the initiative of protecting ecological diversity into jewelry design works, this will be a graduation design exhibition with a very ecological and environmental protection concept." Yang Fengkai, director of DGI, said that many of the works in the design exhibition were based on the theme of the upcoming COP15 Biodiversity Conference, creating jewelry works such as "Broken Nose Family" elephant brooches and red-billed gull pendants, and the "Now is a Gift" graduation design exhibition will be fully launched in September.

According to reports, as the organizer of this exhibition, IGI International Gemological Institute was established in 1975 and is currently the world's largest independent gemological identification laboratory and gemological research and educational institution. As the only truly transcontinental global laboratory among the world's three authoritative appraisal institutions, in recent years, IGI has successively introduced a series of jewelry design courses and carried out a series of lectures and activities on cutting-edge information and cultural knowledge of jewelry in Kunming. "Yunnan is a big jewelry province, the development of the jade industry has many advantages, a series of courses on professional jewelry design has also been strongly welcomed by Yunnan students." Yang Fengkai said that Kunming has become the second city in China to introduce IGI jewelry hand-painted design courses after Shanghai.

Since cooperating with DGI in Kunming in 2017, IGI, as an international authoritative jewelry appraisal agency, has been fully engaged in the southwest market in multiple dimensions such as education consulting, appraisal consulting, university cooperation, and design competitions. "The upcoming 'Present is a Gift' graduation exhibition is not only a summary of kunming jewelry professional design course, but also a ceremony for students to become a new identity as jewelry designers." IGI senior tutor Han Lina said that through several weeks of study, students have mastered jewelry hand-painting techniques and understood design styles, and will soon open the dream of jewelry design. Zhang Qian, Ma Yiyan, Liu Shuman, Li Qingqing, Qian Yuling, Yang Shuya, Zhou Lingxi and other 7 outstanding jewelry designers will participate in this exhibition.
In addition, in addition to the jewelry works with the theme of Yunnan biodiversity and the works inspired by the 1903 architectural complex of the park, this event will also combine the characteristics of the IGI curriculum, focus on identification and design knowledge, and pay attention to the dissemination of the culture behind it. The event will further display jewelry works, share and convey the master's view that "more important than drawing skills is the vision", inject new ideas into the jewelry design industry in Yunnan, and help the transformation and upgrading of the jewelry industry in Yunnan.
