The feeling of coming to China for the first time

When I was 16 years old, I had a dream and left my hometown to come to China.

The first time to leave home, away from parents, the first time to come to a strange environment, language barrier, huge cultural differences, food, clothing, housing and travel in all aspects are not adapted, it is inevitable that there will be some unsatisfactory times, but coming to a new environment has an advantage, that is, to let people grow, will learn a lot of new things. China is a special country, its language, culture, cuisine and other aspects are very distinctive, my first feeling here is like being born again, re-learning new things like a child, getting familiar with new places, learning new languages, learning new cultures and history.

Undergraduate level

On September 23, 2016, I took off from Kabul Airport to Urumqi Airport, when a teacher from Taiyuan University of Technology came to Urumqi to pick us up. Because we arrived at the hotel very late and were not familiar with the environment, the hotel attendant prepared instant noodles for us in advance, and I ate Chinese instant noodles for the first time, and I thought the taste was OK. After a night in Urumqi, I took off from Urumqi Airport to Taiyuan Airport at about 4 a.m. tomorrow, and when I arrived at Taiyuan University of Technology, my new life began.

I didn't get used to the cafeteria dishes at first, and after a while I started cooking in my dorm room

When I first came to China, although my Chinese level is very low, I still can't wait to communicate with Chinese, one day, on the way back to the dormitory after class, I met three Chinese classmates, their English is OK, they found that I am not Chinese, they began to talk to me endlessly in English, and finally we became good friends, one day the college let me give myself a Chinese name, and finally they gave me the name "Yang Le", they said that through such a long period of communication, We found that you are a humorous person, and your Chinese level is not very good, so this two-word name is more suitable for you

In order to be able to make new friends and improve my Chinese, I joined a cycling team at the school

Although I studied Chinese in Afghanistan for a year and Chinese, my Chinese level is not good, because learning any language requires a special environment, and studying in another country for one year Chinese is equivalent to two months in China, and the gap is so large. When I first came to China, I encountered many problems and difficulties, China's food culture is very rich, each dish has its own name, but because my Chinese level is not good, I remembered the name of a dish "potato beef rice, potato beef noodles", eat this every day. The second is to learn to use chopsticks, which is a big challenge for foreigners, I wanted to quickly learn to eat with chopsticks, but learning chopsticks is not simple, I belong to the type of people who prefer to try new things, after three months I learned to eat with chopsticks. Online shopping, online payment, takeaway, express delivery, etc., I experienced these for the first time after I came to China, for me it was like being born again.

A linguist once said that if we can't master the languages of other countries and don't understand their cultures, we can't make real connections. In order to be able to learn Chinese and better understand Chinese culture, after I came to China, I made a detailed study plan for myself, strictly demanding myself, and I went all out to start learning Chinese.

Undergraduate course

During my freshman year, I gained a deeper understanding of China and tried to get in touch with Chinese. With the foundation of learning Chinese in Afghanistan before, I quickly passed the Chinese Proficiency Test (HIC) Levels 4 and 5 and the Chinese Proficiency Speaking Test (LPT) intermediate level. In my freshman year, my language level has improved a lot, I have made a lot of Chinese friends and received invitations to be guests. In addition, I also learned about some traditional Chinese festivals.

During my sophomore year, I was a little slack in my studies, because at that time I could easily communicate with Chinese, there were basically no obstacles, and my goal at that time was to participate in more activities and have more contact and interaction with Chinese friends. In my sophomore year, I participated in various activities, such as the school's Sino-foreign exchange party, sports meetings, training classes to learn guitar, and also visited many scenic spots in Shanxi, such as Pingyao Ancient City.

In the third year, our classes are very large, and the school requires us to pass the Chinese proficiency test level six and the Chinese proficiency speaking test advanced, Chinese there is a saying "as long as the kung fu is deep, the iron pestle is sharpened into a needle", which is a metaphor, which means that as long as you have perseverance and perseverance, nothing in this world is impossible, and our determination and efforts determine our future. Through hard work, I successfully passed the Chinese Proficiency Test Level 6 (Chinese has a total of 6 levels, the highest is Level 6) and the Chinese Proficiency Speaking Test Advanced, and also participated in many activities, such as sports meetings, Sino-foreign exchange evenings, experiencing Chinese tea and Chinese calligraphy and so on.

Why did I come to Beijing?

I have come to Beijing twice in the process of studying undergraduate, but every time, Beijing's food, Beijing's transportation, and the attitude of the Beijing people have left the deepest impression on me, why I came to Beijing to start graduate school, the first reason, want to come to Beijing to feel and experience the life of Beijing. Because Beijing is the capital of China and has a long history and culture, Beijing is the cultural center of China and an international city, so I chose Beijing.

In my eyes, Beijing is a modern international cultural city and the safest capital in the world. Convenient transportation, hospitable Beijing citizens, a variety of tourist attractions. During this period, I visited many places of interest and monuments, and I intend to feel more about the customs and customs of Beijing at the master's level, understand the traditional culture of Beijing, and better integrate into Beijing, a big city full of hope.

Why didn't I return home after graduating from undergraduate?

After graduation, most international students chose to return to China, and my compatriots were among them, but I did not, and my family has been in contact with me to let me return home quickly.

First of all, learning a language requires a special environment, learning Chinese and understanding Chinese culture cannot be done in a short period of time, so in order to better understand China and Chinese culture, I did not return to China and applied for graduate school in China. Secondly, because of the outbreak of the epidemic, many Chinese friends are very hard, especially during the New Year Chinese basically go home and reunite with their families, but at that time, many people did not celebrate the Spring Festival, in order to fight the epidemic, everyone was taking action, and the whole world was watching China at that time.

But China successfully survived those difficult times, Chinese unity and Chinese attitude proved to the world that China is a great country, and I wanted to help others at that time, but as a student, you can't act blindly, you must abide by the discipline of the school, I also stay in the school, translating the content of epidemic prevention and control into Persian every day and posting it on our social software and websites.

At that time posted a short article in the circle of friends

We have a saying in Persian, "Whoever is by your side in difficult times is your brother", and even if he is not your brother, he is worth being together more than your brother. I was also isolated in school during the epidemic, unable to interact with the outside world, unable to go outside, and the whole of China at that time was like this, not just myself.

I also thought that I came to China when China was prosperous, but if I left when China encountered difficulties, I would also hate myself who did not understand gratitude, and in the end I did not leave China.
