Introduction: Why can't people who are not simple enough to do management?
Over the years, I have coached many people and promoted many people.
However, there is a category of people whom I will never promote to a managerial position.
What kind of people? It's those who have a lot of eyes and aren't "simple" enough.
In my opinion, the people who can really achieve great things must be the purest and most true, more "stupid" and "simple" people. People who are not "simple" enough will not be able to manage.
Why? Let me start with a little story.
Do it with your heart, not with your eyes
Many years ago, when I first became a supervisor, I was planning to promote a subordinate. This man works very hard, working until 10 or 11 o'clock every day, and his work habits are also very good.
However, the only shortcoming is that he doesn't make many orders. I'm also puzzled, how can I not get results even if I work so hard? What's the problem?
Later, when he asked for leave, I thought that the work could not be delayed, so I called those customers on his behalf and called 30 customers in a row.
But these customers told me, "No one in your company has ever called me, and I don't even know who this employee you are talking about!" ”
Only then did I realize that he was just performing hard, and in fact it was all fake. Those customer visits are fake, and those work habits and records are all fake.
At work, if a person spends too much money and does things not with his heart, but with his heart and eyes, he will not go far after all.
In general, these people will have the following characteristics:
1. Evade responsibility and exaggerate contributions
It seems that he is willing to participate in everything, and he is very positive in front of his boss, but his attitude is greater than his ability, and he does not dare to take on major things, and he is always evading responsibility.
At work, they try to get the easier part of the work, or hug their thighs and do things that are easy to succeed or are about to succeed. They describe their work as extremely important and difficult, constantly exaggerating their contributions, and thus get high marks in performance reviews.
2. Be good at camouflage and deception
Some people seem to be busy every day, but busyness is pretended to be for the leader, and the leader is present and not present.
They are performative personalities, seemingly sincere and kind, and motivated, but in fact everything is pretended, before and after, with two sides and three swords, smiling on the surface, and playing scheming behind the scenes.
3. Push over and take credit, the ultimate self-interest
There are also some people who are extreme egoists, often at the expense of others and self-interest for their own gain.
They are good at taking credit, the fault is someone else's, the credit is their own, and even in order to achieve their own goals, they will destroy the company's system and standards from time to time and damage the company's interests.
The above behaviors, which seem to be "smart", are actually out of the workplace's duty.
When a person's ingenuity is used in crooked ways, rather than creating value, then he will be farther and farther away from "success", and he will not be able to become a good manager.
Excellent people, all "simple"
If you analyze the good people, you will find that they are all very simple, very simple.
Of course, this is not to say that they are simple-minded, but that they are people who behave in the world, without so many twists and turns, simple and effective, and simple to the point of sealing their throats with a sword.
Really good people, all "simple". Where is the simplicity?
1. The heart is simple, true and pure
It is very easy for a person to go from simple to complex, as long as you experience some difficult things, suffer more grievances, and be splashed with two more basins of dirty water, it will be complicated at once, and you will feel that the world is untrustworthy and people's hearts are unpredictable.
But it's very difficult for you to go from complex to pure and simple.
You need to have a cultivated heart, to transform layer by layer, to find your original self, to find the true, good, and beautiful things.
Therefore, those who can really achieve great things are people who are simple-minded, true and pure.
No matter what the outside world is like, you can always stick to your heart, be in awe of everything, have a ruler in your heart, act in moderation, and do not follow crooked ways, so that you can walk steadily and go far.
2. Be a simple person and achieve oneself as an adult
Some people, especially "people", are always looking for ways to please others or work hard to manage their networks, just so that one day the other party can help them.
Actually, it's useless because when you need help, they don't pay attention to you because they don't approve of you.
Why not endorse you? Because, the essence of networking, is equal exchange. Networking is never about people you know, it's about people you can really help.
If a person cares about the gains and losses of everything and always wants to get benefits from others, no matter how wide the road of such a person is, it will become a single-plank bridge.
Therefore, really smart people are very "simple", simple to others, know how to pay, and will not have too much calculation and utilitarianism.
Because he knows that only adults can achieve themselves, and altruism is self-interest.
3. Do things simply, and be good at simplifying complex problems
A real master, simple in doing things, good at simplifying complex problems.
There are two main meanings for this:
The first is to see through the appearance and go straight to the essence. Some people can't do things well because they lack the "high-level vision" to simplify things and directly grasp the essence of things.
How to grasp the essence of things?
You need to have the ability to think systematically. Systematic thinking is to think deeply, by asking questions in depth, like peeling an onion, and continuing to ask questions layer by layer until you find the most fundamental reason behind it.
When you can see through the surface and see through the deeper essence of things, you can peel back the cocoon in the mess, know what to do, and know where to spend your time.
Second, the method is simple and goes straight to the result. There are many paths to the end, and the shortest path must be the easy one. People with strong ability can always find the easiest way to do things, bypass those obstacles, and go straight to the result.
How to improve the ability to do things?
The best thing to do is to keep solving problems. As you solve one problem after another, keep learning and improving, and your ability continues to rise to a new level.
Finally, to sum up: people who are not "simple" enough cannot do management. People who can really achieve great things are simple-minded, true and pure; Be a simple person, like adults to achieve themselves; Simple and good at simplifying complex problems.
