When it was learned that the cat was about to be adopted by Quaid, the people at the center initially thought they had been tricked. Eventually they believed that Quaid was really asking about the cat named Quaid, and the two sides kept in touch via video. Quaid said it was really special, but he couldn't resist: "I'm going to save all dennis Quaid in the world." Quaid also suggested that shelters might be able to name animals after different celebrities to see who bites.
