According to public information, Zhu Xu was born in February 1930 in Shenyang, Liaoning Province, entered North China University in May 1949, studied drama in the three drama departments of BGI, and after graduation, entered the BGI Second Troupe to work, from lighting engineer to actor, thus starting a dramatic life. In November of the same year, Zhu Xu transferred from BGI to the Repertory Theatre of the Central Academy of Drama as an actor. In June 1952, when the Beijing People's Art Theater was established, Zhu Xu became one of them.
Zhu Xu has starred in many films with profound cultural significance, such as "Changing Face", "Bathing", "Gua Sha", etc., and has also participated in the filming of a large number of TV series such as "The Last Emperor", "Like Water Years", "The Gate of the Great Mansion" and so on.
After retiring, Zhu Xu continued to be active on the stage, starring in "Major Baba" at the age of 61, "North Street South Courtyard" at the age of 73, and "Butcher" at the age of 75. At the age of 82, on the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Beijing Renyi Academy, he played Yao Banxian in "Jiaziyuan", which was his last drama role.
On the screen, Zhu Xu has participated in the movies "Alley Celebrities", "Drum Book Artist", "Que Li Renjia", "Change of Face", "Bath", "Gua Sha" and TV series "The Last Emperor", "Like Water Years", "Sunset Forbidden City", etc., winning many honorary titles.
In 2007, on the occasion of the centenary of Chinese drama, he was awarded the honorary title of "Excellent Drama Artist" by the former Ministry of Culture, and in the same year, he was awarded the honorary title of "Outstanding Contributor to the Literary and Art Undertakings in the Prosperous Capital".
