Chen Geng and Zhang Aiping came to the side of the road leading to Qingshizui to check the ambush terrain, there happened to be a ridge on the side of the road, and there was a small hill bag nearly 100 meters in front of the ridge, surrounded by plains, which was a good place to ambush the enemy's enemy soldiers.
Chen Geng said: "My opinion is to use this ridge to carry out an ambush. ”
However, Zhang Aiping said: "My opinion is that we should use the ridge and at the same time occupy the mountain bag in front of us and take the initiative to attack. ”

The two had a disagreement. Chen Geng is the regiment commander and is responsible for commanding operations, and Zhang Aiping is the political commissar in charge of political work. However, Chen Geng finally gave in to Zhang Aiping, saying:

So, Zhang Aiping led the soldiers to occupy the mountain bag and ordered the light and heavy machine guns to be concentrated on the mountain bag; Chen Geng led his troops to guard the ridge. As soon as Zhang Aiping went up the mountain, he ordered to strafe the enemy cavalry. The enemy soldiers were eating, and when they were suddenly attacked, they immediately panicked, threw away their bowls and pots, and hurriedly mounted their horses, intending to resist. Bullets rained down from the sky and rained down like torrential rain, so I had to flee in the wilderness.
Seeing this, Chen Geng immediately ordered the soldiers hidden behind the ridge: "Pursuit!" ”
The whole regiment took advantage of the victory and pursued. At this time, the two brigades of the column that moved back from both sides had also arrived, and attacked Chen Geng and Zhang Aiping on all sides. The enemy cavalry, known as the "six-legged", could not escape with their wings, and all of them were taken prisoner.
In this battle, the Red Army captured more than 200 horses, as well as more than ten wagons of ammunition and military uniforms. A captain of the first column heard about the argument between Zhang Aiping and Chen Geng's deployment before the war, and said to Chen Geng:
"You are the head of the regiment, how do you listen to the political commissar?"
Chen Geng smiled and said in front of Zhang Aiping: "To fight such a small battle, you can listen to anyone." ”
