Wawushan is a world-famous bird watching base, a key bird area in Chinese mainland, and one of the top ten bird watching resorts in Sichuan. According to statistics, there are 309 species of wild birds in 170 genera and 18 orders, 62 families, accounting for 41% of the birds in Sichuan Province, including 232 species of Thaiciformes in 41 families, accounting for 75% of the local bird species. According to statistics, there are about 21 species of jays in the world, of which about 20 species are distributed in China, while there are 15 species in Sichuan, and 4 species endemic to China (three-toed jay, white-eyed jay, dark jay, gray-crowned jay) are distributed in Sichuan, and Wawushan is one of the areas with the highest concentration of Chinese jay species, and most of them are endemic to China, such as dark jay (endangered), three-toed jay (vulnerable), etc.
