SRAM has been redesigned from the ground up to transform the hand changer and lever, and has made a breakthrough to adapt to a wide range of hand sizes, so you can easily get powerful, smooth, and effortless braking from hand to head or bottom grip. Truly independent grip and contact adjustment allows for highly personalized settings, with no risk of pinching your fingers or bottoming out, regardless of your grip position.
The optimized design of the rubber sleeve means better comfort and less fatigue during long rides. The two additional satellite buttons on the hand changer allow you to easily shift speeds or control ANT+ devices with the flick of your thumb. Despite this, the hand changer still managed to lose 83g of weight. Not only is the clamp stronger, it's also lighter, and it has an amazing incoming tab gap, which greatly reduces disc rubbing.

With standard configuration, the RED AXS kit weighs 2496 grams (48/35T chainring with power meter and 172.5mm crank, 10-28T cassette, 160mm rotor including caliper mounting base and metal parts, brake fluid and all batteries). Compared to the previous generation RED AXS kit, the new kit weighs 153g less.
Are the components of the new RED AXS kit backward compatible?
OK! All components in the SRAM RED AXS package are compatible with the previous generation of 12-speed RED AXS packages (except for the 10-26T cassette) For more details, see the SRAM compatibility chart.
How much more efficient are the RED AXS brakes?
The new design of the RED AXS hand transformer moves the main piston from the hand head to the hand body. The new piston now features a pushrod piston design with a higher lever turn point on the brake lever. The calipers have been stiffened and the discs have a new brake edge design. Compared to the previous generation of the Red eTap AXS, this new design allows the rider to brake with up to 80% less effort when gripping the hand, and can apply one-finger braking when gripping the hand. When gripping the handlebar brakes, it uses 33% less effort than the previous generation Red eTap AXS.
What ergonomic improvements have been made to the shift-brake control of the RED AXS? Can they be adjusted?
The shape of the RED AXS hand changer and brake lever has been optimized, and the new hand change significantly increases the gap between the fingers and the handlebar compared to the previous generation. They are designed to fit the widest range of hand sizes and are textured on both the shift lever and the hand adapter for a better feel and comfort. Both the brake lever free travel and the liner contact travel adjustment can be individually adjusted to ensure that you don't get your fingers caught when gripping or braking in the lower position.
At what angle should I mount the RED AXS hand transformer?
The new RED AXS hand design provides a very neutral and comfortable wrist position when gripping. Based on this, we recommend installing the hand transformer at an angle of 7° upward. Please refer to our installation instructions for more information
What is the purpose of the satellite button on the RED AXS hand changer?
Satellite buttons on the RED AXS hand changer provide an option for assisted shifting, or can be used for control of ANT+ devices. The factory-set satellite button has been set to use the flywheel for variable speed, with the left button toggling a larger flywheel and the right button toggling a smaller flywheel. Alternatively, you can use the SRAM AXS App to customize the satellite buttons to switch pages on a computer or other compatible code sheets.
Can I add more Blip Wireless Controllers to control the RED AXS?
Yes, you can add a total of 8 Blip Wireless Controllers to your hand. You can use the AXS App software to define their configuration as you wish. Eliminating the wired port inside the hand transformer and designing it for wireless shifting operation allows us to downsize the hand transformer and focus on better ergonomics for your comfort during long rides.
How long does the battery last for the RED AXS hand transformer?
The CR2032 coin cell battery used in the RED AXS hand changer lasts for about two years under normal use (estimated 15 hours of riding per week).
