After announcing "All in AI" and "no longer making traditional mobile phones", Meizu's every move has received a lot of attention. Three months after the release of the Meizu 21 Pro, the first open AI terminal, Meizu held the "Flyme AIOS & Meizu 21 Note" launch event today, bringing the Flyme AIOS system and the Meizu 21 Note mobile phone.
However, fans who are expecting a true "AI device" from Meizu may have to wait a little longer, and the Meizu 21 Note is still largely a "traditional phone".
Flyme AIOS: AI-powered "mobile phone" system
FlymeOS has always had a group of loyal fans and a good reputation in China, although the share is not large, but it is remarkable in terms of function, stability and fluency.
After All in AI, Meizu has upgraded to the new Flyme AIOS on the basis of FlymeOS 10.5, which is already equipped with more than 40 AI functions.
Although a wide range of AI features have been launched on Flyme AIOS, they can be broadly divided into three categories.
The first type of function is the more practical type of "AI Answer".
There are more basic generative AI functions such as AI document interpretation and AI search, as well as higher-level gameplay such as AI web page summarization, drag-and-drop flow, and so on.
AI web summary supports scenarios such as WeChat official accounts and long articles on web pages, and you only need to paste the link to get the summary of key points, and you don't even need to open the web page. Drag and drop can be regarded as an upgraded version of "Instant Search", which can directly drag and drop all the content on the screen to send AI to complete search and sharing, without switching between multiple applications for search.
The second feature is an update to the "Listening, Speaking, and Writing" capabilities, including Call Assistant, AI Global Recording, and AI Note Creation.
Yang Yan, chief product experience officer of Meizu, talked about the "call assistant" in the market, believing that none of them are AI call assistants in the real sense, but more like "AI companion chat", which prolongs the chat as much as possible.
The call assistant on Flyme AIOS can understand and recognize calls, quickly hang up sales calls, intelligently reply to food delivery deliveries, and record and generate call summaries and to-do lists. In scenarios other than calls, the AI call assistant can realize AI two-way translation of multiple Chinese languages.
AI Global Recording supports WeChat calls, blog notes, class recordings, and live broadcast minutes, and AI note creation can quickly write meeting agendas, weekly work reports, and other content.
The third type of function is "task script", which jumps out of the identity of AI chatbot and provides active information prompts, task scripts, and task robots to achieve automatic execution in all scenarios.
In particular, task scripts and task bots are similar to shortcuts on iOS, but will automatically recommend and generate "task scripts" based on AI learning. The latter can achieve "fully automatic operation", learn user operations, and realize operations such as ordering takeout and taxis like real people.
Yang Yan said that this task robot is the user's AI clone on the mobile phone.
In addition to the above three functions, Flyme AIOS also brought the agent store, known as the "App Store in the AI era", where users can use the AI agents in the store without downloading and installing.
In terms of small functions, the magic elimination of image processing is upgraded to AIGC elimination, and it also supports AI to convert photo styles with one click; When playing music, the AI can generate wallpapers based on the rhythm and mood of the music.
Although it has been fully committed to "AI", the updates on Flyme AIOS are not limited to this, but also bring other functional updates, such as further upgrades in UI design, "the best animation in Flyme's history", as well as "Live Notifications", widget upgrades and other features.
The Meizu 21 Note is just a phone from 2024
Since 2024, from the low-end to the high-end, various domestic mobile phones have been released one after another, and the content introduced at these conferences is very similar: a good-looking and eye-friendly screen, a thin and light body with a sense of design, powerful gaming performance and experience, and most importantly - the empowerment of mobile phones by AI.
The highlights of the Meizu 21 Note, in general, do not jump out of the above framework, so this is a very typical "2024" phone.

As a mid-range product, the Meizu 21 Note is not equipped with Qualcomm's third-generation Snapdragon 8s or third-generation Snapdragon 7+ platforms like most mid-range phones in 2024, but instead opts for the previous-generation flagship processor, the second-generation Snapdragon 8.
Meizu has carried out "AI+ tuning" performance scheduling for this chip, equipped with a 360-degree stereo cooling system and AI intelligent global temperature control algorithm, claiming that CPU performance is increased by 37%, GPU performance is increased by 42%, AI performance is increased by 335%, and the average frame rate is 120.5 fps and the average power consumption is 4.043W in the 1-hour "Honor of Kings" test.

It is worth mentioning that the Meizu 21 Note is equipped with 16GB of RAM, and 29 of the 30 apps were kept alive for 3 hours in the test.

Judging from the slogan of "mobile phone special forces" instead of "AI terminal special forces", the mid-range Meizu 21 Note is a little farther away from "AI" and closer to "mobile phones", and the content introduced at the press conference can only be said to be "a thousand faces".
However, the whole session was introduced by Guo Jiafeng, the anchor of "Yuezhi 12", and Qiu Chen, the owner of the auto blogger, and the interaction between the two still brought a touch of novelty and vitality to this slightly lackluster press conference.

Although various manufacturers will launch "AI mobile phones" one after another in 2024, Meizu is undoubtedly the more "resolute" one, directly announcing that it will "abandon traditional mobile phone research and development" and choose All in AI.
I once thought that Meizu's next product would be a "real AI device" like the AI product AI Pin or Rabbit R1 from overseas startups, but I didn't expect it to be a mid-range phone that is not very AI, the Meizu 21 Note, or a traditional mobile phone.
