On May 14, Qu Shengwu, deputy director of the Wolong Branch of the Nanyang Ecological Environment Bureau, led the law enforcement officers, together with the heads of relevant townships (streets), to carry out routine on-site inspections of four units in the jurisdiction, including Nanyang Zhonglian Wolong Cement Co., Ltd. and Xiezhuang Town Central Health Center, and supervise and help the radiation work units in radiation safety and protection and the daily management of medical waste.
The law enforcement officers of the Wolong Branch inspected the site, focusing on the operation and maintenance of facilities (measures) such as the workplace of radioactive sources, the entrances and exits of the places where the radiation devices are used, the protective facilities, the warning signs of ionizing radiation, the signals of working status, the configuration of personal protective equipment, the configuration of monitoring equipment, the prevention of misoperation, and the prevention of accidental exposure to the staff, patients and the public, as well as the establishment and implementation of radiation protection systems and measures, emergency plans, equipment overhaul and maintenance, personnel training and assessment, and personal dose testing management.
In view of the existing medical waste, the law enforcement officers of the sub-bureau require that the management and disposal be carried out in strict accordance with the specifications, establish a management account, truthfully record the generation, storage and transfer, etc., and implement the whole process management of temporary storage, collection, transfer and disposal.
In the case of radiation workers in a radiation work unit who did not wear personal dosimeters and the warning line signs were blurred and other problems found during the inspection, it was required to make immediate changes. In the case of the failure to change the legal representative of a radiographic device unit found in the inspection, the unit is required to prepare relevant materials, carry out the declaration and renewal work in a timely manner, and rectify it within a time limit.
In the next step, the Wolong Branch and the local government will follow up and supervise, draw inferences from one case to another, ensure that the problem is rectified to the letter, and will continue to provide normalized assistance and guidance on the radiation safety and protection work of radiation units to ensure that there are zero radiation accidents in the jurisdiction.
