Recently, a group of Chinese tourists

When on a liveaboard in Indonesia

Suddenly the ship caught fire

As a last resort

Everyone jumped into the sea and fled

Belongings and documents were burned

On May 14, the consular protection staff of the Chinese Consulate General in Denpasar said that the Consulate General was aware of the accident and provided assistance to Chinese citizens whose passports were burned in the accident to apply for travel permits.

Sea Safari Cruises, a well-known Indonesian shipping company involved, responded to the accident, saying that the captain and crew had tried to put out the fire after the fire, alerted tourists, and assisted passengers who jumped into the sea. At present, the shipping company has refunded the travel expenses to the passengers, provided a certain amount of compensation for the uninsured guests, and borne the expenses of the tourists' clothing, food, accommodation and transportation, passport processing fees and flight expenses.

However, one of the tourists who was on the boat at the time, Xiao Si from Guangzhou, believed that the shipping company had not fulfilled its due responsibilities and should compensate the tourists for all the property losses.

There was no fire alarm at the time of the incident

According to Xiao Si's recollection, she had signed a liveaboard contract with the dive center Scuba Junkie, but two days before the trip, she was told that the boat she had planned to travel had technical problems and needed to be replaced with a Sea Safari VII boat.

On May 1, local time, Xiao Si took the Sea Safari VII boat to Komodo National Park in Indonesia to start a liveaboard. At about 8:20 a.m. that day, someone noticed gray smoke coming out of the left side of the cabin, and several crew members stepped forward to investigate, and after a while, she heard someone shouting "on fire", she hurriedly grabbed a life jacket and ran to the deck of the ship to assemble.

However, when she arrives on deck, she finds that there is no crew on deck, only the dive guide is packing up his gear. At first, they thought it was just a minor accident, but the tourists noticed that two female crew members ran to the deck in horror and sat down and cried. At this time, there were still no alarms on board regarding the fire, organizing the evacuation of the people on board, or any explanation of the situation.

It wasn't until a few minutes later that the smoke grew louder and louder, and a spark came out, and Xiao Si saw the ship's director jump from the boat into the lifeboat first. Due to the urgency of time, part of the hull of the ship burned very badly, and Xiao Si jumped into the sea with a female crew member and another partner. After swimming in the sea for 5-6 minutes, a speedboat rescued them.

Because the boat caught fire, the belongings and documents of Xiao Si and several Chinese companions were burned, and the subsequent trip could not be continued because they did not have documents. Fortunately, after returning to the shore, the Consulate General provided timely and free assistance to Xiao Si and his party.

The reporter then checked the liveaboard booking information on the company's official website and found that from June 1 to August 19, the dry dock tour route of the Sea Safari VII ship showed "maintenance", while other parts of the route showed that it was available for booking.

Xiao Si also told reporters that she signed a liveaboard contract with the diving center Scuba Junki, but did not sign a contract with the boat driver. According to the shipping company, since the tourist has signed a liveaboard contract with the dive center, the guest's request arrangement and refund payment procedures are carried out through the dive center, and the boat company is responsible for the cost. In terms of refund, the shipping company promised to refund the money for the subsequent unfinished trip, and the diving center promised to refund the full amount, as for personal losses, they have not received a reasonable compensation plan so far.

The local police confirmed the damage to her property on the evening of May 3, local time, but did not inform her of the cause of the fire. The boat company has stated that it will offer free liveaboard trips if they wish.

Xiao Si has currently obtained two Indonesian liveaboard tickets valid until 2026, but she told reporters: "To be honest, after this incident, it is a question of whether or not you dare to take a boat......
