If you've been keeping an eye on bike technology this year, you're bound to see Lidl-Trek using Pirelli's prototype tyres from the start of the Spring Classic. Today, Pirelli has finally introduced this tyre to consumers, and it is no longer a prototype version, but a full-fledged and officially launched P Zero Race TLR RS tyre to consumers.

Italian brand Pirelli has launched the new P Zero Race TLR RS road tyre, which is claimed to be the fastest road tyre they have ever made.

The P Zero Race TLR RS is designed for racing (RS stands for Highest Performance) and the Pirelli features an updated SpeedCore housing and a new SmartEvo rubber compound. According to the Italian brand, the P Zero Race TLR RS has 16% less rolling resistance and 8% less weight compared to the existing P Zero Race TLR.

In light of that, it seems to have been designed to compete with those new-generation competition tires, such as the Continental GP5000 TT TR and Vittoria Corsa Pro Speed TLR. A rough calculation based on the bike's rolling resistance data shows that it's about 5000w slower than the Continental GP1 S TR, but actual testing has not yet been conducted.

Pirelli says the P Zero Race TLR RS also features an updated beadless edge for improved compatibility with hookless rims.

The Pirelli P Zero Race TLR RS is available now, available in four sizes from 700x26 to 70x32c, priced at €89.90 per piece.
