After a week's break from the Chengdu Tongyou Cup, the world's best players will move on to the 2024 Thailand Open Badminton Championships (Super 500) with a total prize fund of US$420,000 this week.

With China's No.3 seed Lee Sze Fung retiring, Malaysia's No.6 seed Lee Zi Jia has changed his opponent in the first round and will face China's Lei Lanxi, ranked 33rd in the world, in the first round. When the draw was first announced, Xiao Li's opponent was Belgium's Julian, but then the badminton league redrew and changed it to Cantapong of the home team.

However, Li Shifeng withdrew, and Li Zijia changed to the No. 3 signing. After the redraw, Li Shifeng's opponent in the first round was Lei Lanxi. Li Zijia's second-round opponents are South Korea's Jeon Yi Chen or Denmark's Johannathan, and a potential opponent in the last eight is China's Lu Guangzu. Lu Guangzu replaced Li Zijia's sixth seed and faced Kantapong in the first round.

Liang Junhao, the second brother of the national feather who played well in the soup cup, faced Su Liyang of Chinese Taipei in the first round. National feather youngsters Guo Jinghong and Wang Zhenyu have to start from the selection round. Denmark's top two seeds, Denmark's Antonshin and Japan's Kodai Naraoka, will take on Hong Kong's Ng Ka Long and compatriot Takahashi Takahashi respectively in the first round.

World No.10 Li Zijia has expressed his ambition to win gold at the Paris Olympics, but if he wants to do so, he must first ensure that he can move up to the top eight by June 25. This also means that in the four tournaments in Southeast Asia starting from Thailand (followed by the Malaysia Masters, Singapore Open and Indonesia Open), Xiao Li will have to go all out to fight for more points.
