Christie's official website was hacked
Since May 9, Christie's official website has been paralyzed by a cyber attack. After emergency repairs, it has now returned to normal. Caught up in the midst of the most important New York Modern and Contemporary Art Auction Week, there was speculation that the hackers were prepared. As a result of the attack, Christie's postponed the scheduled Geneva Fine Watches auction for 24 hours, while other events were held as scheduled.

Guanghui Art Museum has three exhibitions at the same time
On May 10th, three exhibitions of Guanghui Art Museum were opened. From the Guanghui Collection to the Taikang Collection, to the Mesozoic Group Portraits in Sichuan, the three exhibitions sort out and present the relationship between Chinese art and the development of the times over the past hundred years, and focus on the magnificent history of modern China from the perspective of art, reflecting the current artistic process.
"Convergence into a Grand View - Masterpieces from the Collection of Guanghui Art Museum" includes Wu Changshuo, Qi Baishi, Huang Binhong, Xu Beihong, Pan Tianshou, Zhang Daqian, Lin Fengmian, Fu Baoshi, Li Keran, Shi Lu, Wu Guanzhong and other "eleven masters" as the main representatives. This is the first exhibition of Guanghui Art Museum's research on the process of Chinese art modernity, presenting four characteristics: complete exhibition system, harmonious structure and time and space, smooth narrative and interest, and orderly inheritance of works.
"WTO Accession: Chinese Modern and Contemporary Art Since the 20th Century and Masterpieces from the Taikang Collection" focuses on the "WTO accession characteristics" of Chinese modern and contemporary art in the 20th century, and explores the historical process of how artists closely connect themselves and their artworks with social reality.
"Do you want to enter Sichuan? Su Xinping's solo exhibition dreamed of returning to Inner Mongolia
From May 12th to June 15th, Su Xinping's solo exhibition "Walking Man, Distant Horse" was held at Tokyo Gallery + BTAP (Beijing). As an artist born and raised in Inner Mongolia, horses are a common theme in his works, and this new oil painting and sculpture lead the audience to dream back to Inner Mongolia.
The image of "walking man" has become one of the symbols of the spirit of the times with the spread of the image of Su Xinping's large-scale sculpture; "The Distant Horse" is a true portrayal of the artist's inner world, and he once again returns to the place where art began in his heart. This exhibition is an echo across time, Su Xinping's "Lying Man and the Distant White Horse" created in the 80s of the 20th century is a portrayal of the state of affairs at that time, and this exhibition is a retrospective of artistic creation in recent years.
In Su Xinping's works, there are different levels of spatial relationships, with the huge body and the distant landscape and horses forming multiple spatial overlapping relationships. This is just like how he has always dealt with his relationship with the world, he is not only a participant in the art ecology, but also constantly adjusting the distance between himself and all aspects of the art ecology, and he prefers to be a bystander as "me".

The weight of Guan Yinfu's new work
From May 12th to June 10th, Guan Yinfu's solo exhibition "Skin Language, Muscle Speech and Narration" was held at Triumph Gallery. As the second solo exhibition at Triumph Gallery, this exhibition presents more than 10 new works by the artist. From the title of his first solo exhibition "Gravity to the Naked Eye" in 2022 to his latest solo exhibition, it is not difficult to find that these topics are closely related to the body, which is also the first impression of many people when they see Guan Yinfu's works.
Guan Yinfu has been exploring the multi-material properties of pigments. The huge blocks piled up on the plane, sometimes heavy, sometimes light, balance the weight of the picture with the artist's unique language under the action of highly saturated colors. In the eyes of curator Wang Jiang, the color blocks of different thicknesses are like skin and skin, and these two body images correspond to the two clues of lightness and heaviness in Guan Yinfu's creation.
Among the new works in this exhibition, several black works appear, and the colorful black is the artist's new self-challenge. The cracks that once appeared on the heavy pigment appear on the light black pigment this time, and the flesh-colored base in the cracks has the rhythm of life. The exploration of the physicality continues to appear in Guan Yinfu's works, and each independent body also has an independent character and spirit, both in terms of creative method and expression.

The story of lacquer art of three generations
From May 9th to May 26th, the exhibition "A Century of Lacquer Art Family Inheritance - Aesthetics and Practical Craftsmanship" was held at the Time Zone Gallery of Shanghai Sinan Mansion, showcasing the works of Wang Qingshuang, Wang Xianmin, Wang Xianzhi and Wang Junwei, intangible cultural heritage lacquer artists from Taiwan, China. The lacquer paintings on display this time are the crystallization of the new technology technology cooperated by VITART and the lacquer artist, and reproduce the innovation of the combination of lacquer art and new technology with "restoration painting".
Three generations and four artists followed classical techniques, and their families almost represent the 100-year modern history of the development of lacquer art. Master Wang Qingshuang's themes are inspired by his love for nature, including mountains, water, flowers and birds, and scenes in the daily natural environment.
The second-generation lacquer painters Wang Xianmin and Wang Xianzhi, upholding their father's enthusiasm for creation, pay more attention to the elegant auspicious totems, and present the traditional meaning of peace and festivity through various complex lacquer art techniques; On the basis of his grandparents and fathers, Wang Junwei integrated the colors of the new era and connected the aesthetics of lacquer painting with the present. The three generations of the family have important value in the inheritance, innovation and education and promotion of lacquer art, and also bear the responsibility of inheriting the past and the future in the history of art.

Chen Zizhuang Art Documentary Exhibition
From May 11th to September 20th, Tianfu International, Yanshan Art Season, the fourth season of "The Grand View - Chen Zizhuang Art Documentary Exhibition" was held at the Art Museum of Sichuan Conservatory of Music. As the first master exhibition to be held by the Chuanyin Art Museum in 2024, the exhibition gathers as many as 111 original works, sketches and documents of Chen Zizhuang, and at the same time commemorates the 111th anniversary of Chen Zizhuang's birth, showing the art historical value and cultural pursuit of this Bashu art master.
Chen Zizhuang is one of the most legendary painting wizards of the 20th century, and he has devoted his life to expressing the spirit of traditional Chinese aesthetics with the characteristics of the times. The Chen Zizhuang Art Documentary Exhibition was held at the Chuanyin Art Museum, which not only provided an opportunity for teachers and students to have a zero-distance "dialogue" with the master, but also allowed more people to see the master's tenacious character through the form of documents, which is also the scientific aesthetic education method explored by the Chuanyin Chengdu Academy of Fine Arts.
Chen Zizhuang's ink painting is a monument of ancient Chinese painting in the 20th century, and he also integrates his personal philosophy on the ink painting of the 20th century. Based on the land of Bashu, feeling the profound humanistic connotation of Sichuan and Chongqing culture, and experiencing the majestic and magical ecological landscape of Bashan and Shushui, he has formed his own unique understanding of ink language and highly recognizable creative style under the influence of traditional Chinese philosophy and aesthetic thoughts.

$500 to buy an authentic Banksy handiwork?
An art project called "The Missing Balloon" made a blind box for Banksy, the most enigmatic artist on Earth. The first round of the 2024 Spring Auction report
The 2024 spring auction season in the mainland has raised the hammer, and under the current economic situation, the first round of results has been stable but not brilliant. The Palace of Tokyo loses its long-term patron
After an exhibition on Palestinian history at the Palais de Tokyo Museum in Paris, its longtime patron Sandra Ejdes said that no more financial support would be provided. Minimalist pioneer Stella dies
On May 4, minimalist pioneer Frank Stella died of lymphoma at his home in Manhattan, New York, at the age of 87. A leading figure in postwar American art, Tella was a relentless innovator whose exploration of color and form was endlessly discussed and redirected the course of avant-garde art in the fifties and sixties of the 20th century. In the late 50s of the 20th century, Stella rose to prominence with the minimalist "Black Paintings" series, and his mid-to-late work shifted to collage, then to relief, and finally to complex spatial structures.
