By the end of 2023, there are 200 ordinary national highways in the mainland, with a total mileage of more than 265,000 kilometers, and the dense network of ordinary national highways will closely connect various cities in the mainland, just like the capillaries of the human body, ensuring the efficient, fast and convenient circulation of people and materials between various cities in the mainland, and playing an irreplaceable and important role in promoting the development of the mainland's economy.
The two road network systems of ordinary national roads and national highways constitute the national roads of the mainland, both of which start with the letter G. Ordinary national highways are generally numbered in the form of G+3 Arabic numerals (i.e. GXXX) and are pronounced as XXX national highways (e.g., G318 is pronounced as 318 national highways).

This series will focus on China's ordinary national roads, and introduce them in detail from three aspects: basic information, provinces and cities passed, and value significance. At present, the mainland plans to build a total of 200 ordinary national highways. These 200 ordinary national roads are divided into four categories: 12 capital radiation lines, 47 north-south longitudinal lines, 60 east-west horizontal lines, and 81 liaison lines.
In this issue, we will introduce: G521 Yuncheng - Tongguan Ordinary National Highway [Yuntong Line]

Value significance
The Yuntong Line starts in Yanhu District, Yuncheng City, Shanxi Province, and ends in Tongguan County, Weinan City, Shaanxi Province. The ordinary national highway is an important national passage connecting Shanxi Province and Shaanxi Province, constructing the transportation artery of important cities in the east-west direction (mainly including Yuncheng City, Weinan City, etc.) in the southern Qin-Jin region, and building an east-west connecting bridge in the southern Qin-Jin region. At the same time, Yuncheng can not only communicate Tongguan through the Yuntong line, but also through other ordinary national roads in the Tongguan area, and travel to other parts of the country at high speed and effectively, which plays a vital role in strengthening the communication between Yuncheng and Tongguan and even the rest of the country.
