Who said that new energy vehicles only sell well in China? Recently, CleanTechnica, an automotive sales research organization, released the latest global new energy vehicle sales (BEV and plug-in hybrid vehicle registration) statistics for 2024, and sales in March this year were quite strong, up 19% year-on-year to 1,314,687 units.

In the first quarter, the cumulative sales of new energy vehicles reached 3216366 units, a year-on-year increase of more than 25%, which also increased the global NEV penetration rate by 2% to 16% (pure electric vehicles accounted for 10% of the market share).

In the case of Tesla, its sales trend is not promising. The sales volume of all Tesla models in the first quarter of this year fell by about 8% year-on-year, and the total delivery volume was also widened by BYD, hitting a new low in the past five quarters. Model 3 was down 20% year-over-year. The reporter of the Bay Finance Society noticed that for the decline in Tesla's sales, netizens generally said that the current cost performance of Tesla products at the same price is much lower than that of independent brand products. At the same time, the public relations crisis in the past two years has led to a decline in Tesla's brand image.

Among today's best-selling models, the "Chinese team" has become the overwhelming main force, accounting for 16 of the 20 best-selling new energy vehicles in the world in the first quarter of 2024. In the Top10 range, the amount of "Di" is very amazing.

Among them, BYD Song ranked second with 146,935 units sold, followed by Qin Plus, with 112,222 units sold, Tesla's Model 3 has been squeezed out of the top three. Then there is the Seagull (also known as the Dolphin Mini overseas), which ranks fifth with more than 70,000 units sold.

The Hongguang mini EV, which has always been the sales leader of Wuling, ranked ninth, and the Wuling Binguo, which also belongs to the Wuling mini car family, also performed well, ranking 12th with sales of 34,273 units. Another mini car, waxy corn, has become the representative of the Changan family, and the sales of 32128 have been stable.

Ideal L7, which ranked 17th in the global new energy sales list in 2023, rushed to 11th place in the first quarter of 2024, with a relatively eye-catching performance, but L8's results fell out of the top 20.

However, the popularity of BYD family's products has also fluctuated, with "Tang" and "Denza D9", which ranked 14th and 18th in the 2023 annual list, both absent from the hot sales list in the first quarter of 2024, and "Destroyer 5" instead rushed to 13th place with 33,389 units sold.

In the ranking of best-selling brands, Wuling rose again to 4th place, continuing to leave Mercedes-Benz behind. Mercedes-Benz has also risen in the rankings thanks to the launch of the EQA, EQB and GLC PHEVs, from 7th place last year to 5th place this year.

But the most fierce upward momentum is Geely, from last year's 12th to 6th, its brands Zeekr, Lynk & Co, etc. have also made foreign automotive industry observers quite optimistic.

Ideal has also risen from 11th place last year to 7th place, and with the launch of new models this year, its explosive power in the back end is still worth looking forward to.

GAC Aion, which plays the market with the two aces of Aion S and Aion Y, has performed very steadily and occupies the 11th place. There is only one waxy corn on the hot list of Chang'an, which seems to be a little weak, ranking down from 9th last year to 15th, if it does not launch more competitive products, in the face of more and more competing products, it will continue to be passive.
