More than 5,000 people applied for the general election of the upper house of Thailand in 3 days!

According to Thai media news, the term of office of members of Thailand's upper house will expire on May 10, 2024, and a new election of members is required in accordance with the constitution. On May 11, the Thai Government Gazette officially released the decree on the election of members of the upper house in 2024 issued by the 10th King Maha Vajiralongkorn.

More than 5,000 people applied for the general election of the upper house of Thailand in 3 days!

According to Thai media on May 12, since the Election Commission of Thailand issued a notice on the 10th of this month to allow interested applicants to receive the registration form, as of now, that is, the third day after the opening of applications, a total of 5,164 people have received application materials submitted by the whole of Thailand. Among them, the top 10 regions in terms of the number of applicants are as follows:

1. Bangkok: 849 people

2. Botharun Province: 237 people

3. Nakhon Ratchasima: 227 people

4. Nonthaburi: 224 people

5. Chiang Mai: 29 people

7. Khon Kaen: 159 people

8. Lopburi House: 135 people

9. Samut Prakan: 130 people

10. Pathum Thani: 105 people

In addition, the three provinces with the lowest number of applicants for the House of Lords are Boon Kor (1), Nong Khai (3) and Mae Hong Son (6).
