Recently, GAC Aion officially announced that the second-generation AION V will be officially launched in July. The new car has undergone major changes in terms of appearance, no longer a rounded design style, a more square body and an angular sense of lines, which appear more hard-core. For example, the front hood is no longer streamlined, but has become more straight and square, and the integrated headlight groups on both sides are replaced, and the double vertical daytime running light strips in the lamp cavity and the LED headlight group form an "H" shape, which is very recognizable. The nose is completely sealed, and a recessed lower part leads to curved air intakes on both sides, which is complemented by a larger trapezoidal lower grille, which greatly enhances the car's sporty appearance.
The side of the body is wide and square, and the front and rear fenders are designed with powerful bulge lines, coupled with the blackened A-pillar and contrasting body, which has a bit of an "electric Highlander" look. Concealed door handles reduce drag, wide luggage racks and gloss black wheel arches accentuate the car's positioning, and the side skirts are accented with black curved trim strips to enhance the car's layered look.
The rear of the car is outlined with a large number of horizontal lines and decorations, which looks very layered. The longitudinally distributed tail light clusters are slightly curved, and inside are two parallel light strips, which echo the headlight clusters. The rear bumper has additional protrusion and is embellished with multiple layers of nested trim to unify the overall style.
The interior part has not been directly exposed, only mentioning that it will adopt a five-seat layout, with the front seats supporting an eight-point massage, the rear seats supporting one-button reclining, and a car heating and cooling refrigerator. The cockpit layout is expected to be similar to that of Ai'an Haobo HT, with a large-size floating central control screen + pocket gear shift, which is also the most mainstream interior design at present.
One of the highlights of the new car is the upgraded intelligent driving capability, equipped with ADiGO PILOT intelligent driving system, equipped with Orin-x chip + high-threaded lidar + 5 millimeter-wave radar + 11 visual sensors on the hardware, which does not rely on high-precision maps and supports intelligent driving functions such as urban NDA, high-speed NDA, and one-key remote parking.
In terms of power and range, the official claims that the new car is based on a 400V silicon carbide platform, with a maximum range of more than 750km, and can replenish 370km in 15 minutes of charging. This energy replenishment speed is already faster than that of some 800V models, demonstrating GAC Aion's technical heritage in the battery field, but the specific energy replenishment rate still needs to be tested.
For Aion, the second-generation AION V is of great significance, as it uses a high-end intelligent driving system supported by LiDAR for the first time, and its intelligent driving ability will be a grade ahead of the Aion models on sale, and will radiate to other brands of GAC Group in the future.
