On the label of sunscreen umbrellas, two indicators are commonly seen: UPF and T(UVA)AV, UPF is the ultraviolet protection factor, which represents the protective effect of ultraviolet rays. T(UVA)AV is the average transmittance of sunlight's ultraviolet rays and UVA, which represents the sunscreen blocking effect. Therefore, a larger UPF value is better, and a smaller T(UVA)AV value is better. It is generally considered that a UPF > 40 and a T(UVA)AV < 5% can be called a "UV protection product".
Look at the material
Generally, the fabrics used to make umbrellas mainly include nylon, polyester, etc. Polyester fabric has the characteristics of waterproof, sunscreen, soft and easy to fold, and is a common umbrella cloth material on the market. Nylon fabric has the characteristics of lightweight, tough and durable, and good shading, but the texture is relatively hard.
Look at the fabric density
The higher the density of the fabric, the lower the light penetration rate and the better the UV protection effect. We can place an umbrella in the sun and judge the density of the fabric by looking at the blackness of the shadow, and the darker the shadow, the higher the density of the fabric.
Look at the coating
Coating treatment is a common treatment to achieve the effect of shading and UV protection on the surface of the umbrella. At present, the sunscreen umbrella coatings on the market generally include silver glue, color glue and vinyl coatings. As an earlier coating material, the coating of silver glue is relatively light and thin, but it is easy to be damaged and fall off; The color glue is bright and not easy to fall off; The vinyl coating is durable and not easy to peel off and damage, but it should be noted that the vinyl coating is highly heat-absorbent and will slightly increase the temperature under the umbrella.
Precautions for using a sunscreen umbrella
Rain can damage the protective coating of the umbrella, so it is better to use the umbrella separately from the ordinary umbrella.
Folding, pulling, scratching and other behaviors and humid environment will cause the coating of the umbrella surface to peel off and affect the sunscreen effect, so the sunscreen umbrella needs to be replaced in time.
