Bordeaux 2023 en primeur | Mouton series, high-quality classified village, noble rot sweet white gorgeous debut

author:The world of wine

The 2023 Bordeaux en primeur is being launched, with the powerful Baron Philippe de Rothschild SA's Château Mouton, Château Damajac and Château Clamiron bringing a selection of high-quality wines. In addition, the 1855 fifth-class Château du Zac and Gatormet Winery continued the wonderful performance of previous years and lived up to expectations.

It is worth mentioning that the wet weather in 2023 has created good conditions for noble rot mushrooms, and the noble rot sweet white wine produced is condensed in flavor and pleasant acidity, which is expected.

The 2023 Château Mouton Red Wine reveals aromas of blackcurrant and dark berry, punctuated by notes of pencil shavings, roasted coffee beans and violets, with medium to full-bodied, well-defined and fleshy textures, fruity, rich and bright, sweet tannins and a lingering finish.

James Sarklin 98-99 points

The 2023 Château Mouton Red has a structure that rivals the excellence of the 2016 vintage – its tannins are calm and understated at first, and then spread out in layers to reveal the strength and character of this wine. The wine is full-bodied without being overly heavy, and it offers excellent breadth, richness and finish length that deserves to be scrutinized.

Anthony Geloni 96-99 points

The rich, dense fruity aroma is complemented by a powerful structure that is mesmerizing. Aromas of deep red fruits, blood oranges, spices, pencil shavings and hay intensify in the glass. I particularly appreciate its vertical structure and energetic style, which is an exciting young Mouton. Created by a winemaking team led by Technical Director Jean-Emmanuel Danjoy.

The 2023 Château Mouton Silver Wing White Wine is full of white flowers, lemon oil, lime leaves and spring flowers, with a medium to full bogus, a round palate and fruity finish, and a long, juicy finish.

James Zackling 94-95 points

The 2023 Château Mouton Silver Wing Blanc is round, delicate and charming, with rich flavour layers, with pleasant acidity and mineralogy underpinning the structure, while the limestone soils of the vineyard bring the salty flavours of sea salt, full of vibrancy, freshness and liveliness, with a fresh and refreshing finish.

Anthony Galloni 92-94 points

The 2023 Château Mouton Silver Wing is a gorgeous, delightful wine with a rich, rich texture that reveals the brilliance of the vintage. Intense notes of orange peel, spices, mint, lime, dried flowers and hints of tropical fruits. Compared to previous vintages, the blend has a higher proportion of Semillon, with a greater emphasis on texture and structure, with a relative downplaying of the oak character and the exoticism of previous vintages.

It is a very attractive wine, bursting with aromas of cherry, raspberry, liquorice and cigar wrapper. Medium-to-full-bodied, full-fleshed, fruity, sweet tannins, moderate acidity, and the 2023 vintage has a fairly high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon compared to previous vintages.

James Sarklin 93-94 points

This red wine has a powdery texture and an open aroma. Full-bodied, richly layered, elegant and light. The wine is based on aromas of blackcurrant, blueberry and orange peel with a velvety texture.

Jeff River, "Cellar Intelligence" 92-94 points

Aromas of flowers, cedar, spices, vanilla, black raspberry and gooseberry pervade. On the palate it is soft and inviting, with a crisp finish with hints of fruit and spicy mint. It is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Franc and 2% Veranda, making it the highest percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon in a blend.

Château Clameron 2023 red wines with aromas of red berries, cherries and blackcurrants, with notes of pencil shavings and new oak barrels, are medium to full-bodied, deep and full-bodied, with a well-layered fruity aroma, sweet tannins as velvety and delicate and juicy as the palate.

James Sarklin 95-96 points

Aromas of blackcurrant, chocolate, hazelnut and savoury freshness run throughout. The wine is full-bodied and intensely flavored, sublimating on the finish. The limestone terroir in the vineyard sets the chalky flavor tone for the wine. This wine is a blend of 72% Cabernet Sauvignon, 19% Merlot, 6.5% Cabernet Franc, 1.5% Carmenere and 1% Verand.

Jeff River, "Cellar Intelligence" 93-95 points

Aromas of cedar, flowers, mint, redcurrant and Indian spices are intertwined. On the palate it is fresh, silky and delicate, with pure red fruits and a hint of spice lingering on the finish. This wine is already delicious at a young age, but it is believed that after a period of aging in the bottle, it will develop an even more charming charm.

It is a vibrant, young red wine with aromas of blackcurrant and lemon zest. The wine is medium-bodied, with firm tannins and moderate acidity. In every way, it is a lively and classic wine.

Anthony Geloni 91-93 points

The 2023 Château du Zac Red is a lively and intoxicating wine. Personality is direct and charismatic. With the fragrance of red and fuchsia fruits, spices and flowers, the aroma spreads effortlessly. The flavor is quite intense, but it doesn't feel overpowered, and it is a Margaux wine with a lot of character.

Concentrated and balanced, it reveals wonderful aromas of dark fruits, blue flowers and stones. The wine is medium-bodied, juicy and vivid, with supple tannins and fresh acidity. The middle palate is outstanding, with a delicate Cabernet Sauvignon character and a firm finish.

This is a Barsac wine with dried apples, apricots and spice characteristics. The wine is medium-bodied, with a moderate sweetness and a spicy finish.

Neil Martin 94-96 points

The 2023 Château de Gudai noble rot sweet white wine is a star in the spotlight compared to other wines from Barsac, but without being ostentatious. The limestone soils bring about characteristics that support the wine. On the palate it is well-balanced, with intense aromas of noble rot fruit, hints of spices, dried honey and orange peel, as well as hints of apricots, with a long finish that lingers between the lips and teeth. I wouldn't dare to say that this is the best Château de Coutérie noble rot sweet white in recent years, but it is certainly one of the best wines of the vintage, with good ageing potential.

Jeff River, "Cellar Intelligence" 95-97 points

Flavors of flowers, pineapple, candied orange peel, lemon curd and saffron fill the taste buds. Striking the perfect balance between sweet and spicy, the fruit is intense with notes of honey, vanilla, roasted nuts and ripe pineapple. This wine is excellent so far and will get better and better over time.

In addition to the main wines, a number of sub-wines and white wines have also been launched, and some wines are also available in 1.5-, 3-, and 6-liter bottles. Welcome to the Wine World Mall.
