According to the BBC, South African screenwriter Ronald Harwood died on September 8 at the age of 85. His works include "The Pianist", "Diving Bell and Butterfly", "Dresser", "Love in the Cholera Period", "A Psychotherapy", "Australian Chaos", "Quartet" and many other business cards.

Ronald Harwood was born in 1934 in Cape Town, South Africa. In 1951, at the age of 17, Ronald went to study at the Royal Academy of Drama. In 1961, Ronald published his first novel, and then began to write stage plays and screenplays for film and television dramas.

Harwood's first foray into film and television was the Canadian film Playmate. In 1983, he wrote the screenplay for The Dress-Up, which received five nominations at the 56th Academy Awards in 1984, including Harwood's nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Harwood was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at the 48th British Academy Film Awards for Browning Edition in 1995 and best adapted screenplay at the 75th Academy Awards in 2003 for The Pianist. This film about the pianist Spielman's upheaval during World War II not only made Harwood famous, but also won the youngest Oscar winner, Adline Brody.
