In 2014, the overall plan was approved, and the first phase of the first TOD project in China to be constructed without affecting the existing rail transit operation was officially started. In February 2017, the important landmark of Xinzhuang Station was demolished, and the "Little Red Building", the auxiliary building of the station that had stood for 20 years, completed its mission. With the demolition of the old overpass, the construction of the Xinzhuang comprehensive transportation hub project has been accelerating in recent years, and good news has been frequently reported.

The 700,000-square-meter TODTOWN Tianhui combines subway, intercity high-speed rail, high-end commercial, Grade A office, hotel, residential and other functions, and organically integrates the wisdom of different functions. The third underground floor is a comprehensive parking space, forming a P+R green travel system, the first floor above ground is a transportation hub, the second floor is a comprehensive transfer space for rail transit, and the third floor (i.e., the large platform layer) is a comprehensive property cluster. It is reported that the entire project will be completed and delivered for operation in 2028.

The maximum number of people gathered in the station building is 800 people, and the scale is 3 sets and 6 lines. Although it is not as large as the platform of other hubs, for Xinzhuang and southwest residents, there is no need to squeeze to one place by train, which greatly facilitates the transportation of transportation. Since the station itself is a railway line, the addition of stations will slow down the speed of the train, and the surrounding noise problem may be reduced.

The plan mentions focusing on the construction of "one belt, one ring, two cores and four districts", and by the end of 2025, the sub-center of the main city of Xinzhuang will be gradually built into "the southern city center of Shanghai and the southwest city living room of the main urban area of Shanghai serving the Yangtze River Delta".

"One Belt, One Ring, Two Cores and Four Areas", involving the above-mentioned Xinzhuang Comprehensive Transportation Hub, Xinzhuang Old Street Area, as well as the Upgrading Belt along Qixin Road, Youdong Road Area, Gudai Road North Area, and Parking Yard Area, will also be fully renewed.
