The reporter learned from the Chengdu Municipal Public Security Bureau: On the evening of May 9, 2024, the false information that "Chengdu, the cement pier sealed a Ren (person)" was spread on the Internet, and the public security organs summoned Chen (male, from Chengdu, 47 years old) suspected of spreading rumors to the case at 13 o'clock on May 10.
After police investigation, Chen saw three videos from the WeChat chat group at about 19:00 on May 9 (after verification, one is a video related to a criminal case that occurred in Fuyang, Anhui Province, and the other two are police videos of a dispute handled by the police of the public security organ in Jinjiang District, Chengdu on May 9). At about 20:50 on the same day, after Chen saw the video related to the criminal case in Fuyang, Anhui Province again in another WeChat group, without confirming the authenticity of the video and information, he forwarded two police videos of the Jinjiang District Public Security Bureau to the group, and misled other netizens in the group to believe that the criminal case occurred in Chengdu. Later, the content of the group chat was spread by netizens, causing a bad social impact.
At present, the offender Chen has been sentenced to 10 days of administrative detention by the public security organs for disturbing public order by fabricating facts.
