What are the disease risks associated with overweight and obesity?

Type 2 diabetes: Each standard deviation unit of BMI increases the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 87%; The risk of type 2 diabetes in obese people with normal metabolic indexes and obese people with abnormal metabolic indexes was 4.03 times and 8.93 times that of healthy normal body weight, respectively.

Coronary heart disease: The risk of coronary heart disease in overweight and obese people is 2.49 times higher than that of normal weight people, respectively.

Increased risk of death in older adults: Obesity (BMI ≥ 28.0) increases the risk of death in older adults by 36%.

Breast cancer in postmenopausal women: Being overweight and obese increases the risk of breast cancer in postmenopausal women by 12% and 16%.
