According to the shortlisting method, these 16 national badminton players successfully qualified for the Paris Olympic Games. However, this list is not the final list, and there are still more than two months to go before the Paris Olympics, and some players may withdraw due to injuries or other reasons, so the next players are expected to be replaced.
The seeding places for the Olympic Games will be determined according to the world ranking on 9 July 24. According to the current points estimates, Guoyu is expected to get the No. 1 seed in the Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles, after all, Chen Qingchen/Jia Yifan, Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong have more points leads, while Shi Yuqi, Chen Yufei, Leung Wei Keng/Wang Chang, Liu Shengshu/Tan Ning and Feng Yanzhe/Huang Dongping will be aiming for the top two seeds.
There are many advantages to getting the top second seed, and the biggest advantage is that you can avoid some strong opponents and avoid situations like first-round and second-round tours. If the women's doubles and mixed doubles pairs can secure the first seed and the second seed, the two pairs will be in the upper and lower halves of the bracket respectively, and it is very likely that they will win the gold medal early.
A total of 41 players were shortlisted for men's singles, 39 for women's singles, and 16 pairs of players for men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles. Four singles wild cards have been released, the men's singles wild cards were won by Prince Dahal from Nepal and Sauron Opti from Suriname, of which Sauron Opti participated in the Tokyo Olympics and was in the same group as Shi Yuqi; Women's singles wild cards went to Bulgaria's Kaloyana and Maldives' Razak, who was in the same group as He Bingjiao at the Tokyo Olympics.
Among these shortlisted players, there are many veterans of the three dynasties, four dynasties, and even five dynasties. Guatemala's Corden and Spain's Abyan will be competing in Paris for the fifth time. Women's singles Li Wenshan, Tan Lianni, Tai Tzu Ying, and Intanon are participating in the Olympics for the fourth time; South Korea's Lee So-hee and Ponnapa are making their third Olympic debut.
