Today, the Xi'an Earthquake Bureau, together with the Municipal Education Bureau, the Municipal Emergency Management Bureau, the Municipal Association for Science and Technology, and the Management Committee of the Economic Development Zone, held the "2024 Xi'an Earthquake Prevention and Disaster Reduction Science Popularization and Campus Publicity Activity" at the Xi'an First Experimental School. With the theme of "Helping High-quality Development, Escorting Campus Safety, and Striving to Improve Grassroots Disaster Prevention and Risk Avoidance Capabilities", the event set up video exhibitions, earthquake drills, expert explanations, popular science lectures and cultural programs, etc., to accurately deliver the popular science knowledge of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction to the teachers and students of the school in various forms.

Ren Tao said in his speech that Xi'an earthquake prevention and disaster reduction science publicity closely around the campus and other grassroots frontline, focus on knowledge popularization, focus on emergency drills, focus on the implementation of responsibility, with the "six in" as the starting point, to disaster prevention and mitigation publicity week as an opportunity, planning and carrying out a series of popular science publicity activities, focusing on the use of modern science and technology, highlighting key places and weak links, highlighting the grassroots earthquake prevention and risk avoidance ability three aspects, with rich and diverse, popular activities, and constantly expand the coverage and influence of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction science publicity.
Liu Chen stressed that this year is the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, and it is a year to promote the implementation of the "14th Five-Year Plan" and win the catastrophe prevention project. Earthquake prevention and disaster reduction departments at all levels in the province should fully understand the extreme harm of major earthquakes and catastrophes, and further improve the ability of earthquake monitoring, forecasting and early warning, earthquake disaster risk prevention and control, public disaster prevention and avoidance ability, as well as earthquake prevention and disaster reduction public service and rule of law guarantee capabilities, so as to provide a strong earthquake safety guarantee for writing a new chapter in Shaanxi and striving to be a demonstration in the western region.
During the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Publicity Week, all departments at all levels in the city will carry out various forms of science popularization, knowledge competitions and emergency drills through online and offline activities, and the activities are expected to cover nearly 10 million people. In addition, the ongoing campus earthquake early warning project will provide earthquake early warning services for 3,600 schools and 2.025 million teachers and students in the city. The city's earthquake prevention and disaster reduction work department will take this opportunity to carry out the "six in" activities of earthquake prevention and disaster reduction knowledge on a regular basis, and constantly enrich the form of publicity, so that the public can further understand the earthquake, understand the knowledge of earthquake avoidance, and master the skills of earthquake self-rescue and mutual rescue.
