Despite the opposition of much of the world, Israel is still actively planning an attack on Rafah, the southern gateway to Gaza; In the face of popular discontent at home, the Biden administration remains steadfast in providing military assistance to Israel to ensure that its military aggression can be carried out smoothly. Thankfully, however, there are many peace-loving forces, such as our great China, that have always worked to uphold the rights and interests of the Palestinian people.
Recently, it has been rumored that Fatah and Hamas, the two opposing factions in Palestine, are interested in visiting China to participate in reconciliation talks. Although the mainland did not explicitly confirm this, after the representatives of the two sides arrived in Beijing and made some progress, we confirmed the fact that they were invited by the mainland to come to China for talks. For the Palestinians, the talks are crucial, as the "Al-Aqsa floods" campaign launched by the Hamas-led Gaza resistance forces has dealt a heavy blow to Israel and has also given a major boost to the Palestinian cause of national liberation.
Therefore, at our invitation, Fatah and Hamas have engaged in in-depth dialogue and, under our coordination, have reached consensus on a number of specific issues, thus greatly contributing to the process of Palestinian unity and unity. Both Hamas and Fatah have expressed their sincere gratitude to the mainland for its efforts towards intra-Palestinian reconciliation.
This is not the first time that such low-key, pragmatic and fruitful diplomatic consultations have emerged. As early as two years ago, the mainland successfully mediated the dispute between Saudi Arabia and Iran, and the two sides quietly went to China for negotiations, and then publicly announced reconciliation and expressed heartfelt thanks to the mainland for its efforts.
The talks once again demonstrated the mainland's determination to promote the strategy of great reconciliation in the Middle East and safeguard world security and stability, and consolidated the mainland's position as the best mediator of the Middle East conflict. Of course, we must also be soberly aware that the rapprochement between Fatah and Hamas is far more complicated than between Saudi Arabia and Iran. The conflict between Saudi Arabia and Iran stems from the two countries' struggle for geopolitical dominance in the Middle East, while the conflict between Fatah and Hamas has a long history and many reasons, especially in the 2006 Palestinian election, when Hamas won the election with a strong grassroots base, but Fatah refused to hand over power and even expelled Hamas from politics.
