Pirelli has introduced new tyres for two Ferrari supercars. Among them, the Enzo model gets a new P Zero Corsa System tyre, while the F40 model gets a new P Zero tyre. The partnership between Pirelli and Ferrari has been going on for 70 years.
Usually, not all 20- or 30-year-old sports cars get new tires that are custom-made for them. But the Ferrari F40 and Enzo, multi-million dollar masterpieces, have received special treatment, even on par with new Ferrari models like the SF90.
Pirelli has a catalogue of tires called "Collezione", a collection dedicated to customising tires for a wide range of vintage and older sports cars. The tyre range has been designed to combine the best of modern technology with the look of vintage tyres, ensuring that the vehicle does not look obtrusive and incongruous when replaced with new tyres.
When buying an old car, a lot of people may not give special consideration to the appearance of the tires. But Pirelli is aware of this and is committed to offering tyres that meet both performance needs and a retro look with its "Collezione" range.
Of the two new tyres, Enzo's new P Zero Corsa System tyre upgrade is the most significant. The new tyres are 245/35 R19 at the front and 345/35 R19 at the rear, and are identical in appearance to the tires of the original Enzo model.
At the time, these tires were the sportiest in the range. They feature a specific tread pattern design, with a directional pattern on the front and an asymmetrical pattern on the rear. This design helps to protect the vehicle from skidding.
These new tyres were designed with the help of Ferrari test drivers, which ensured that they could meet Ferrari's standards and requirements.
The F40 model will get a new set of P Zero tyres with 245/40 R17 at the front and 335/35 R17 at the rear. This new set of tires has an improved compound formula and also features a new lettering design that better fits the style of the original tires.
