The Olympic Qualification Series is a new festival series established by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that combines sporting events with urban culture, including BMX freestyle, breakdancing, skateboarding and rock climbing, and the results of the competitions will directly affect the qualification of athletes in the four sports for the Paris Olympic Games. The Shanghai leg of the competition will be held from May 16 to 19 this year at the Huangpu Binjiang Puxi Expo Park.
Huangpu Riverside Skateboarding Extreme Park is located in the "No. 1 Dock" of the Huangpu Riverside Expo Park, which was put into use in 2021 and is the largest skateboarding theme park in the central area of the world's megacity carefully built by Huangpu District. As the former site of the Jiangnan Shipyard, the skatepark combines the historical culture of the dock with the fashion and sports culture, and turns the "industrial rust belt" into a "life show belt" for citizens to enjoy by holding mass sports events, skateboarding talent training and youth sports training. During the Olympic Qualification Series, the "Skatepark" will organize and carry out various youth enlightenment activities.
Shen Shanzhou emphasized that all relevant departments, streets and enterprise groups in Huangpu District should actively cooperate with the organizers of the event to implement various territorial security tasks, and at the same time do a good job in the planning and organization of skatepark sports enlightenment activities to ensure the safety and success of the event. It is necessary to continue to promote the in-depth integration of Huangpu's "business, tourism, culture and sports exhibitions" through the holding of the event, help Shanghai build an "international sports event capital" and accelerate the construction of a "world-famous sports city".
