From 16 to 19 May, the Olympic Qualification Series will kick off on the banks of the Huangpu River in Shanghai. On the field, the top athletes from the four major sports of breakdancing, skateboarding, rock climbing and BMX will compete for tickets to the Paris Olympics.
In Huangpu Binjiang City Park, where the event was held, the "Four Exhibition and Play Circles" of the urban sports festival tailored for the four sports will have different design styles and rich sports experiences, allowing the audience to get in touch with and understand urban street sports at "zero" distance and immerse themselves in the Olympic atmosphere while watching the games.
Compared with professional competition venues, the exhibition circle will be designed in different styles to highlight the fashion trend attributes of these four urban sports. The skateboarding exhibition circle designed with three-dimensional origami style and skateboarding elements, the breakdance exhibition circle decorated with street hip-hop graffiti, the rock climbing exhibition circle with colorful pop design, and the BMX exhibition circle with industrial log style design and integrated with wheels, axles and other elements - these distinctive and elaborate designs will not only allow more people to feel the infinite charm of the origin of sports, but also become a fashion check-in point favored by the audience.
In addition to the eye-catching exhibition design, the four exhibition circles will also carry out regular experience activities and limited-time relay experience theme activities throughout the four competition days.
The regular experience activities will provide the audience with an entry-level understanding and experience of these four urban sports, including inviting professional coaches to provide on-site guidance, interesting quiz on urban sports knowledge, explanation and display of sports cool skills, and audience photo check-in.
At the same time, the contestants will also make random surprise appearances and come to the exhibition circle to interact with the audience. These colorful on-site activities will greatly enhance the audience's participation at the event site.
The theme activity of the limited-time relay experience is the "highlight" of the city sports festival. During the four-day competition, limited-time events will be staged with the four themes of "Brave Heart", "Road of Love", "Wings of Imagination" and "Joy of Integration".
May 16 "Brave Heart" theme activity
On the first day of competition, the climbing program will kick off with a fun "Quotes from the Air" challenge. Climbers can take part in the challenge and write down their favorite words at the highest point they can climb, working together to transform an entire climbing wall from a sports machine into "performance art".
The skateboarding event will be broadcast live online in a combination of online and offline methods. The performances of professional skaters can help the audience understand the events and scoring forms of skateboarding competitions, and the national finger skateboarding competition will make finger skateboarding, which has become popular among young people in recent years, also stained with the "light" of the Olympics.
If you're confident in your body control and balance, you can take part in the Dolphin Jump Challenge at the BMX Show Play Area and try out what it's like to jump with a piece of equipment that looks like a bike. In the break dance exhibition and play circle, where the "smell of gunpowder" is the strongest, break dance masters from all over the country will show most of the difficult movements in break dancing in the way of fighting dance PK.
May 17 "The Road of Love" theme activity
On the second day of competition, rock climbing, skateboarding and break dancing will all be performed with flash mob performances. About 30 skateboarders, road rushers, and longboarders will wear costumes with the characteristics of skateboarding culture in the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s of the last century, and will slide through the city sports park, and use the props of small venues as carriers to accompany musical performances to show how skateboarding has gone from surfing to the streets to the Olympics.
Break dancers will also perform immersive pop-up street dance performances in various interactive areas of the City Sports Park. The climbing circle will have additional climbing rope climbing platforms at both ends of the rock wall, and enthusiasts who dare to challenge can try rappelling from a height of 8 meters. The BMX Show will invite Wu Xu, a well-known domestic BMX accessories master, to popularize the relevant knowledge of BMX parts and materials to the audience and enthusiasts, and present the lifestyle on the tool car in the form of a workshop.
May 18 "Wings of Imagination" theme activity
Extreme sports require the imagination of athletes, so extreme sports are often associated with all kinds of wild ideas. On this theme day, BMX, breakdancing, rock climbing and skateboarding areas will feature painting, graffiti and painting. The audience can plug in the "wings of imagination" and use the skateboard deck, the magnesium powder bag and rock spot for rock climbing, the bandana and costume for break dancing, and the helmet of BMX as a carrier of infinite creativity to create a unique and trendy artwork.
May 19 "The Joy of Integration" theme activity
On the final day, the competition was the most intensely competitive, and the cross-border, cross-regional, and cross-crowd urban sports festival also entered the climax.
All kinds of competitors and guests from the climbing community will gather at the scene to share their experiences with the audience, demonstrate and teach skills. BMX will also have heavyweight guests parachuted into the scene to experience and serve as the award presenters of the on-site jam invitational competition.
The Skateboarding Show Circle cares for children in mountainous areas, helping them to get in touch with and experience skateboarding, a fun urban sport. Last year's popular breakdance-themed film "Warm" will bring the creative team and related actors, choreographer Wang Shenjiong, as well as Shanghai's local break dance stars and athletes to the scene to recreate the classic clips of the movie, share the creative inspiration of the film, and exchange the development of break dancing in the new stage.
