Recently, the PLA's H-6K strategic bombers played real kung fu over Fiery Cross Island in Nansha, directly taking off and landing there for training. You heard it right, the once small reef has now become an "iron fist reef", the hard-core upgrade, the strategic significance has soared in a straight line, and the land reclamation project that has been smashed by tens of billions of dollars is worth it now!
The South China Sea, that is our cornucopia, oil, gas, I heard that there are 30 billion tons, the global share accounts for 12%, as well as the mysterious combustible ice, rich minerals and fish-filled fishery resources, to put it bluntly, is a big fat meat, the so-called "sea dispute" in the Philippines, in fact, is to covet our treasure.
Fiery Cross Reef, the "C position" in the middle of Nansha, is more than 600 kilometers away from our southernmost Zengmu Dark Sands, 460 kilometers away from Wan'an Beach in the west, 500 kilometers away from Palawan Island in the Philippines, and even Manila, the straight-line distance is only 1,200 kilometers. In the past, it was pitifully small, 0.08 square kilometers, about the same as a basketball court, but now it is good, as soon as the land reclamation is launched, it has directly expanded to 2.8 million square meters, which is equivalent to 110 aircraft carrier decks together.
Fiery Cross Reef is a large family, with the main reef 26 kilometers long and 7 or 8 kilometers wide, with a total area of more than 100 square kilometers. Fiery Cross Island, which we often talk about, is actually a small detachment in the southwest corner, 2.8 square kilometers, but this is just the beginning. In the future, if all the sub-reefs are moving, then there will be more "Fiery Cross Islands" in the South China Sea.
Behind this is our resolute protection of sovereignty in the South China Sea, and it is also a security factor for our maritime trade routes.
