In an open factory shed in Jiafu Village, Tuqiao Town, Rucheng County, Fu Hang, a young man born in the 90s, sat on the side of the huge rafters with his grandfather and father, and used knives and grinding tools to carve the Hongmen beams scheduled for the maintenance of ancestral halls in other villages.
As a thousand-year-old county, Rucheng County not only has ancient academies such as Lianxi Academy, but also thousands of ancient ancestral halls, and is known as the "hometown of ancient ancestral halls". In addition to the "Incense Fire Dragon" national intangible cultural heritage project, the county also has three provincial intangible cultural heritage projects such as traditional ancestral hall construction skills, with a total of 51 intangible cultural heritage items at all levels, and the traditional skills have a long history and have been passed down from generation to generation.
Influenced by his grandfather Fu Dexiong, a provincial intangible cultural heritage inheritor, Fu Hang has been full of love for traditional ancestral hall construction skills since he was a child. In 2010, he gave up more development space outside, resolutely returned to his hometown to work in the village to engage in wood carving, followed his grandfather to study, and now has basically mastered this skill. "Starting a business abroad may be more exciting, but it is more important to inherit intangible cultural heritage and keep the ancestral business. Fu Hang said that it is necessary to continue to sink down physically and mentally and practice diligently, and inherit, protect and make good use of intangible cultural heritage skills.
