After successive victories, the Japanese officers made a bold statement: they would fight to Beijing in three months and arrest the emperor. In October 1894, the Japanese army launched an offensive in two ways, one of which sent two divisions and more than 30,000 men to pierce the defense line of the Yalu River. On the other hand, more than 25,000 people landed at the entrance of the garden in the rear of Lushun and approached Lushun.

But this time the situation was grim, Li Hongzhang was unmoved, and directly asked him to go back to Lushun, but Gong Zhaoyu returned to the battlefield, and when he inquired, the commander was Jiang Gui, and he packed up his belongings and ran back to his hometown in Anhui, others didn't know, he knew best.
Although Jiang Gui's qualifications are old, he is brave in battle, but he is illiterate, he has courage, but he has no strategy, he is not a commander, he has no real skills, Gong Zhaoyu foresees that if Jiang takes on this heavy responsibility, this battle will be lost.

When the Japanese army arrived at the door, a blacksmith hid behind the door, raised a sledgehammer and smashed the skull of the Japanese soldier, killing five Japanese soldiers in a row, and then was killed by the Japanese soldier who broke through the window.

Chen Laishun's hometown is in Lushun, the Chen family is mainly engaged in the silk industry, the family is well-off, the local rich family, from snacks and clothing, living a first-class life, because it is the only son in the family, he was also doted on and grew up.
When he was old, his father promised him a daughter-in-law, who was beautiful, generous, and understanding.
When the Japanese army broke down his door, Chen Laishun happened to go to the toilet, he heard the screams from the house, and when he was about to go out, he was so frightened by the scene in front of him that he immediately hid back.
He witnessed his father and mother being stabbed to death with bayonets, and saw the Japanese soldiers insulting his pregnant wife, who resisted strongly, and the Japanese soldiers directly broke her stomach, threw the unborn child to the ground, and shot his wife several times.
Chen Laishun covered his mouth and didn't dare to make a sound, I don't know how long it took, listening to the screams outside, he walked out of the toilet with empty steps, looking at the corpses of his relatives and was grief-stricken.
36 Lucky Survivors
He wanted to take revenge, but one person could not defeat a large number of Japanese soldiers, and when he was about to escape, he was captured by the Japanese army, he thought that he was going to die, but he never thought that the Japanese army gave him a task to carry the corpse.
For four days and three nights, the Japanese army slaughtered all the civilians in Arthur City, and the number of later generations was estimated to be about 20,000, leaving only 36 people to carry the corpses to cover up the crime.
Chen Laishun is one of these 36 people, at the beginning of looking at the mutilated corpses of the people, his heart was full of fear of the Japanese army, afraid that he would also become a victim, and later through the corpse in his hands, it became his inner demon, which inspired the extreme hatred of the Japanese army, and in the end, he was completely numb, and his body also shed countless traces of being whipped and driven away by the Japanese army.
In order to eliminate the evidence of the massacre of innocent people, the Japanese army burned the corpses in three places, the largest is now the Wanzhong Tomb in Lushun, because there are too many people killed, the Japanese army found some iron racks, and roasted people layer by layer.
The burned ashes were put into a coffin by the Japanese army and buried collectively, and a monument was erected in front of the grave, "The Tomb of the Qing Army Soldiers Who Died in Battle". In this way, it can be declared to the outside world that the Japanese army did not kill civilians, but only soldiers.
Later, internationally, they directly claimed that although those people were wearing civilian clothes, they were all soldiers in disguise, and the real people left before the war began, and the reason why the Japanese army dismembered the corpses was because they saw the killing of their comrades in the battle.
During the post-war trial of World War II, the Japanese army also adopted this method to cover up the crimes of the 300,000 unjust souls of the Nanjing Massacre.

Chen Laishun was happy, he laughed, he was still a bandit with such guts? The bandits panicked even more, trembling and asking him if he was a human or a ghost?
Chen Laishun recalled that tragic experience, hundreds of innocent people who died miserably, and their hands still seem to be stained with sticky blood.
He sighed and replied, "I, ah, am half human, half ghost."
Then he told the bandits about his own experience, the bandits were all poor people, and their families also suffered accidents, and they felt that Chen Laishun was the most miserable and the most courageous, so they pulled him to be the owner of the village.
Chen Laishun also wanted to use his status as a bandit to avenge his family and the people in the city. Therefore, he promised to be the owner of the village and formulate new village rules, that is, it is not allowed to kill compatriots, not to rob the Chinese, as for the Japanese, kill, rob, plunder, at will!
