To know Jia Guanghui, we have to start with his squirrel paintings. Many years ago, when I saw his squirrel picture "Treading the Snow and Looking for Plum Blossoms" for the first time, I couldn't put it down, so I included him in the list of participating in the "Exhibition of Chinese Famous Calligraphers and Painters" held on the other side of the strait in 1990 composed of nearly 100 famous artists such as Qi Gong, Dong Shouping, Zhou Huaimin, Guan Shanyue, Li Xiongcai, Xie Zhiliu, Chen Dayu, Ya Ming, Yang Zhiguang, Liu Jirong, Liu Wenxi, Shen Peng, etc. At that time, he and Jia Guangjian were the youngest representatives of painters. The next year, he was invited to Guangzhou and Zhuhai to participate in calligraphy and painting activities, and we officially met and met. It was then that there was a greater understanding of him and his work. Freehand painting is a peak of Chinese painting, it is indeed not easy to climb, Jia Guanghui knew the difficulties, made hard efforts, and achieved extraordinary results in the "squirrel painting".
Freehand modeling advocates concise and exaggerated, highly generalized. After more than 20 years of exploration and tempering, he completed the ideal squirrel form with "roughly one stroke". Artistic conception is the soul of the work and the embodiment of the painter's soul. In terms of conceptualizing and creating the environment, he avoids the theme that has been indiscriminately painted, and explores new interests, mostly using pine, plum, orchid, bamboo, mountains and rocks, ice and snow, farmhouse melons and fruits, and pastoral scenery as material combinations, accompanied by poems and sentences, to deepen the theme. For example, "Treading the Snow and Looking for Plum Blossoms", "Enjoying the Orchid in the Hidden Valley", "Climbing High and Looking Far Away", "The Eyes of the Mouse Are Not Bright", "Eating the Wind and Frost and Snow", "Sitting on the Cliff", "Reading the World", "Bitter and Happy Years" and other works, its meaning is fresh and long, giving people a rich aesthetic taste.

The choice to paint squirrels and the determination to paint a different style is also due to the painter's temperament. Influenced by the traditional customs of the north and the moral and spiritual preaching of the elders, coupled with the experience of different living environments such as rural, military, urban, and cultural circles, he naturally developed his simple, frank, and resolute personality. Therefore, the artistic language style of smooth, spicy and Shen Xiong has become a constant pursuit. He believes that there is no greater beauty in the world than life, and that the smaller the life, the more pity and love it will be. Squirrels are petite, naturally weak, and are often harassed by the outside world, but they are powerless to fight, and bear too much helplessness and pain for survival. The tenacious vitality has created a free and agile body, if it is separated from the world, it is happy in suffering, and it is free in the world. It decorates the ecological beauty of nature and brings joy and beauty to human beings. The painter thought that his own life in the world was like this...... In the 17 years in the army and more than 20 years in the local area, the painter tasted more of the hot and cold state of the world, refused to follow the trend, followed the trend, indifferent to the career, floated outside the vanity fair, and pursued the ideal of artistic life.
Jia Guanghui Zhuang turned into a squirrel like a butterfly, and created a squirrel painting with an indifferent and pure heart. His works have been exhibited in dozens of exhibitions at home and abroad, and have won many gold and silver excellence awards. In recent years, his works have attracted much attention and praise at the "National Chinese Painting Art Festival Exhibition" and the "Cultural Exchange Exhibition of Jiangsu Flower and Bird Paintings to the United Nations Headquarters".

Jia Guanghui
Jia Guanghui, also known as Jia Qian, is a native of Suining County, Jiangsu. Born in 1951, he was enlisted in the army in 1970 with art specialties from the school, and was engaged in cultural propaganda and art creation for 17 years in the army, during which he studied at Nanjing University of the Arts, and successively studied under the famous painters Chen Dayu, Yang Jianhou, Pan Jinyi, and Zhi Zhensheng. Jia Guanghui was the first director of the Mei Lanfang Memorial Hall in Taizhou. He is currently a member of Jiangsu Artists Association, director of Jiangsu Flower and Bird Painting Research Association, researcher of Painting and Calligraphy Research Center of Jiangsu Federation of Literary and Art Circles, vice chairman of Taizhou Artists Association, vice president of Taizhou Chinese Painting Society, consultant of Jiuhuashan Chinese Painting Research Institute, and vice president of Anhui Laozi Painting Institute.
