This is an old five-star hotel that has been open for 34 years, and I participated in the preparation of the hotel and worked here for eight years.
As soon as you step into the door, the feeling of home comes to you, it is too familiar here, and it is even more cordial to meet the old employees. That year, they (they) were all handsome guys and beauties born around 70 years ago, and they were a beautiful scenery in Shantou City. Today, most of them are retired, and they have dedicated their lives to the obscurity of this hotel, leaving behind a generation of good memories.
A few large coconut trees planted in front of the hotel were cut down a few years ago, saying that it affected the image, and the hotel has changed hands several times, and it is not known who the flowers are。。。。。
Things are still the same, people are no more.
I especially like to go to the sun and moon gallery of the hotel alone at night to drink tea, listen to background music, watch people come and go, and reminisce about the past...
After graduating from university in '82, I worked in Shantou No. 2 Plastics Factory for eight years, from electrician squad leader and workshop director to deputy factory director, but unintentionally, I entered the hotel management industry. This application wants to be the director of the plastic factory under Shantou International Financial Building Co., Ltd. At that time, IFC Limited was a rather impressive unit with a lofty name, finance, five-star hotel, trade, factory, industry and so on. Fang Weiqun, then vice president of the Shantou branch of the Bank of China, personally interviewed, although they met for the first time, but they talked very happily, and in less than half an hour, he made a decision and asked me to go to the Golden Bay Hotel as the deputy general manager. If it is placed now, it is absolutely impossible, because we don't know each other at all, and we don't have any relationship to recommend, and there was no five-star hotel in Shantou at that time, and it was even more rare to choose a hotel boss. At that time, I was just 32 years old, and I was also awarded the title of "Shantou Outstanding Young Entrepreneur".

The designer of the hotel is Lingnan design master Yu Jinnan, he personally went to the scene to guide, often with me late at night here tea chat, during that time, the master will be his design secrets over the years selflessly taught to me, so that I can be more handy in the future work of the hotel design, architectural conception, planning and all-round coordination, benefited a lot, the teacher is unforgettable.
I especially miss the leaders and colleagues of the International Finance Tower Limited and the staff of the hotel who worked together to build the hotel. The company's Mr. Chen, Mr. Zheng, Mr. Lao, Mr. Yao, Mr. Wang, Sister Qing, Director Fang, Master Lin Renqiang, who designed the big bronze lion, especially Director Li Guosheng of the office, when naming various areas of the hotel, and Vice President Fang and others determined the elegant names such as "Gorgeous Palace", "Jazz Xuan", "Sunshine Corridor", "Moonlight Corridor", "Bicui Garden" and "Golden Lotus Hall", and have been used to this day.
That year, the recruitment of the hotel, crowded, almost gathered Shantou handsome guys and beauties, industry elites, I took dozens of people to Guangzhou Dongfang Hotel for internship, everywhere I went, the return rate was 100%. Soon after the beauties returned from their studies in Guangzhou, they were successively married by the big money.
I remember the day before the hotel opened, we were still cleaning, and I took the lead in cleaning the presidential room on the 26th floor, which needed to bring a safety rope and sassafras glass. A few little girls joked, leader, tell us the bank card number first, I said, don't think, if you fall, you will pay the deposit as the last party dues.
It was a happy day.
The highlight of the hotel was in the 90s, when business was booming, dignitaries, leaders, overseas Chinese businessmen, domestic and foreign stars, big coffees, and bosses stayed one after another, especially Hong Kong celebrities and businessmen, who regarded this place as a post station. So, for a while, the scenery is infinite and guides the trend.
In a flash, more than 30 years have passed, and Shantou has also added a number of five-star hotels, and the hotels are no longer mysterious and unreachable. Today, the development has been earth-shaking, five-star hotels are gradually replaced by asset-light management, more economical hotels, such as today's all-season, Atour, etc., which is also the inevitable law of social development, and the executives of the hotel are gradually replaced by the "store manager" of formatted management.
Here, there is a feeling of time travel, with an arc-shaped sky dome overhead, moonlight hanging high, and starlight. The constellation spheres in the atrium, which tell you the mysteries of the universe, the colonnades of ancient Roman architecture, reminiscent of the Roman gladiators of the Colosseum, this is the ancient era. The silky oriental background music, the guqin dong flute, next door to the west and the west, around the beam for three days, the Italian marble on the wall of the entire lobby, the texture is flying, like the waves of the sea, and the whole Portman space is smart. There is also this entrance space that is pressed first and then raised, which seamlessly connects this place with the outside world, which is another masterpiece of the architect She Gannan after the White Swan Hotel in Guangzhou, and has become the memory of the city, a classic, never tired of seeing, just like old wine, more and more mellow.
At this time, the fragrance of tea is still the same, the music is the same, the memory is the same, but the guests have passed by.
In the past, I didn't understand the meaning of the song, but I was already a person in the song.
This is life, this is the same feelings with the Golden Bay Hotel, the deep feelings with the hotel staff and a touch of melancholy.
