May Day holiday: "waste" or "smart investment"? Re-examine values and choices

I'll start with a little story, it's not a story, it's a small truth.

I opened the refrigerator yesterday and found a steamed bun that had been sitting for a long time, and it was as hard as a brick, so I threw it away.

Is this a waste? The answer is clear: it's waste. In my view, waste means that something is discarded without fulfilling its original value, and it should be called waste.

This steamed bun, its original value is to be eaten to the stomach, then it will die well, play its own value, not a waste, thrown into the trash, no matter what the reason, is a conscious and unconscious waste.

There is another thing, two days ago, I took an urgent job, and some friends may have read it, that is, I posted an article about Hongqi cars in Toutiao. The article was written by invitation, and the request was urgent, so I stayed up late at night and worked overtime to catch up with the manuscript.

Staying up late to write, cigarettes are a necessity for me, but coincidentally, by one or two o'clock in the morning, the cigarettes are also gone. If I go downstairs to buy cigarettes, I need to run a long way to find a 24-hour convenience store, and I have to go out for a circle.

But there was no takeaway at night, so I found a substitute driver on my mobile phone, and I said to the substitute driver: I will give you 50 yuan for hard work, and you can help me buy two packs of cigarettes and send them to me. That's it.

It is such an act, in the eyes of many more traditional people, it belongs to the ranks of waste, and even my father and mother can't accept it, saying: You have to spend 50 yuan on errands to buy two packs of cigarettes, and having money is not such a waste method.

It is this way of thinking that actually occupies the minds of most Chinese. In fact, if we think about it calmly, we should all think that what I did at that time was the best choice.

I can save the 50 yuan by going out for a lap, but if I go out for a lap, even if it doesn't take long, but if you come back and sit in front of the computer again, your train of thought must be interrupted, and you won't be able to come back for an hour or two of this interruption, and maybe you will never be able to get into the original state and writing ideas again. As long as you have been to school, you should have this experience.

I went out to buy cigarettes, and it seemed that I would save 50 yuan, but my loss must have been far greater than 50 yuan. It's just that this kind of loss is intangible, it is not reflected in the form of being seen, so it will give people an illusion and be considered a waste, but you and I in the middle of things, once we encounter this situation, we can't be trapped by the traditional inferiority.

The 50 yuan, its meaning is to keep me working and efficient, as long as it achieves this purpose, then it is worth spending, it is not only not a waste, but an efficient investment and a wise choice.

One might ask, what is the point of these two things?

Of course there is, because today is May Day, and the people of the whole country are on holiday. The vast majority of people have a few days to arrange it themselves. There may be many people who will be bound by the traditional thinking I just mentioned when arranging their vacations, and thus suffer from both gains and losses.

Then the two little things I just mentioned make sense.

For us personally, you have to look at how to allocate time, money, and emotional value. The only thing we have to consider is the ratio of what we give and what we get, not just how much I have to spend, which is narrower and meaningless.

I wish every friend a May Day holiday that makes them feel very valuable.
