As the co-founder of the UK-based P4 precision medicine accelerator, Nathan McNally has spent the last 15 years building a tech ecosystem. Through this ecosystem, P4 has supported more than 2,000 start-ups and raised over £2 billion in private investment. "At present, our incubation projects cover tumor immunotherapy, digital therapeutics, new drug development, in vitro diagnostic reagents, biomarkers and other fields, and we hope to find a landing scenario for these innovations from top universities and hospitals in the UK. ”
Like Nathan McNally, top experts and scholars from the UK in the field of life and health, university research teams, cross-border technology transfer institutions, industrial investment institutions, and start-up representatives came with "golden" projects, hoping to find new opportunities in Yangpu.
One-stop genetic testing platform, handheld preterm birth screening medical device project, AI-based individualized cancer diagnosis and treatment project, breast cancer single drop blood test product...... The entrepreneurs introduced their latest scientific research achievements in the field of life and health. With the combination of academic theory support and medical practice, some projects have been incubated and landed and achieved preliminary commercialization results.
HaraeDx, a Silicon Valley-based oncology start-up that is currently developing a rapid test for diagnosing breast cancer: just 1 drop of blood, 15 minutes to get a test result, and recently received $15 million in funding. Bradley Morgan, an investment consultant in the field of life sciences and chief commercial officer of HaraeDx breast cancer testing company in the United States, said that in the next step, he hopes to meet the needs of Chinese medical institutions and medical device manufacturers, seek strategic cooperation opportunities, and lay the foundation for landing in the Chinese market.
For a long time, Yangpu has given full play to its unique advantages of abundant scientific and educational resources, agglomeration of medical institutions, and active innovation and entrepreneurship, and actively promoted the incubation, transformation and industrialization of scientific and technological achievements in the field of medicine and medical care. At present, there are more than 200 life and health enterprises in the zone, including nearly 50 enterprises above designated size, including WeDoctor, Neptunus Medical, Bide Pharmaceutical, C&D Zhixin, medical industry and other industry leaders, as well as functional platforms such as Shanghai High-end Medical Equipment Innovation Center and Shanghai Technology Exchange.
In recent years, Yangpu attaches great importance to the people's pursuit of life, health and well-being, actively promotes the coordinated development of pharmaceutical and medical undertakings and industries, and strives to build a collaborative innovation system of "government, industry, academia, research and financial services". At present, Yangpu is in a critical period of innovation and development, among which the life and health industry is one of the four emerging fields that Yangpu focuses on.
