The "Fat Girl" series of works vividly depicts the scenes of life that people like to see in a witty, humorous and optimistic style, and its exaggerated freehand shapes make the audience laugh and laugh.
Ancient Chinese sculpture art can be traced back to before 4000 BC, which is a splendid pearl in the history of world culture and has become the root and source of Xu Hongfei's artistic creation. From terracotta warriors and horses, temple Buddha statues to open-air stone carvings, he continues to explore the fusion and breakthrough of classical art and popular culture.
He said that the image of the "Fat Girl" series is an extension of the artistic aesthetics of the Tang Dynasty, and the figures depicted in the Dunhuang Feitian murals are plump and charming, reflecting the beautiful and romantic imagination of the ancients, as well as the appreciation, praise and respect for women. He believes that the casual and comfortable life atmosphere of the Greater Bay Area gives his works a more down-to-earth expression, and the open and inclusive personality of the Greater Bay Area gives the "fat girl" the confidence and mind to embrace the world.
In the past ten years, the "Fat Girl" series has not only appeared in major cities across the country, but also traveled from the Greater Bay Area to the world, visiting 55 solo exhibitions in 29 countries on five continents, showing the world the joy and humor, self-confidence and happiness of China in the new era with a unique sculpture style.
The sculptures filled with China's sense of happiness have built a bridge for cultural and artistic exchanges between China and foreign countries, and blossomed into the flower of friendship along the "Belt and Road".
"Humor and love are the common language of the whole world. Since being elected as a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, how to innovate expression, tell Chinese stories well, spread Chinese voices, and show a credible, lovely and respectable image of China has become the focus of Xu Hongfei's attention.
On the eve of the Spring Festival in 2024, Xu Hongfei's sculpture "Kiss" was collected by the Central Park of Madrid, Spain, and the 56th stop of the world tour exhibition "Dragon and Phoenix Chengxiang" opened at the same time in Salamancara.
